The Experience
Flotation therapy sessions take advantage of two extreme sensations—sensory deprivation and the feeling of effortlessly floating. Inside the tank, visitors can lie in 10 inches of heated water saturated with 1,000 pounds of pharmaceutical-grade Epsom salts. The combination of the high salt content—which makes the water so buoyant as to simulate zero-gravity weightlessness—and the absence of external stimuli lulls floaters into a deeply meditative state, recalling memories of the all-inclusive sauna they enjoyed inside the womb. Guests can also customize their sessions with colored LED lights in the tank, or play music.
