Feasting, the favored pastime of kings, emperors, and celebrators of Thanksgiving, is a great way to gorge. With today's Groupon $20 gets you $40 worth of feast at Feast Restaurant, the Decatur restaurant Atlanta Magazine says has "the genuine enthusiasm and Southern-stamped hospitality of an owner who cares."
Feast serves lunch feasts, brunch feasts, dinner feasts, dessert feasts, wine feasts, and food to eat between feasts. Atlanta Magazine says the pizzas are gourmet and anything from the wood-fired oven is delicious (even the actual fire, at your own risk). Dinner plates include Moroccan spice-rubbed Springer Mountain chicken ($16), grilled vegetable and goat-cheese pizza, pan-seared duck breast ($23), and grilled ribeye ($22). Try a Mediterranean olive sampling or an antipasto platter of cured Italian meats, cheeses, roasted red peppers, and marinated olives. Brunch offerings such as cedar-planked salmon with salsa verde and eggs, or cornmeal-crusted North Carolina mountain trout over Logan Turnpike grits, are sure to satisfy any late-morning urge to devour a sumptuous spread of food in a fancy setting, giving you either the energy to face your day fists a-blazing, or the comfort to confront the afternoon with a vigorous nap.
Feast is an elegant Mediterranean eatery with bare brick walls, black tablecloths, luscious curtains, and warm earth tones. Service is professional and friendly, and the chef, Larry Searson, has worked with Larry Forgione of An American Place in NYC and Jean Joho of Everest Restaurant in Chicago. He was executive chef at The Mansion Restaurant in Atlanta, and director of food service for Carver Bible College and World Changers Church International.
