About Federalist Public House & Beer Garden

Part gourmet pizzeria, part gastropub, part beer garden, Federalist's 2,200-square-foot space houses a wealth of dining experiences. Read on to learn more about the eatery's distinctive architecture and cuisine.h4 id"inventivedesign"Inventive Design/h4Federalist was sustainably built from seven shipping containers to form a quasi-outdoor dining space and beer hall. The structure was designed by co-owner and architect Marvin Maldonado, whose century home overlooks the restaurant. The house's Federalist-style architecture extends to the eatery, which features a bocce court as well as walls decorated with Thomas Jefferson quotes.h4 id"farmtotabledining"Farm-to-Table Dining/h4The menu emphasizes farm-to-table ingredients for its wood-fired, Neapolitan-style pizzas. Named after key people and places in California and US history, they include the Chavez, topped with tomatillo sauce, carnitas, and crème fraiche, and the plant-based Freedom Pie, featuring arugula pesto, vegan mozz crumble, cremini mushrooms, red onions, and cherry tomatoes. To complement pizzas, salads, and sandwiches, Federalist serves a rotating selection of California craft beers. Local breweries, such as Track 7, Ruhstaller, and Bike Dog, occupy most of the taps, but there's also room for bigger names such as Sierra Nevada and Firestone Walker. Likewise, the list of wines includes varietals made from Central Coast grapes.
