You have a choice of two classes: Beginning Hand Building for 5- to 12-year-olds on Wednesday afternoon (February 2–16) from 3:30 p.m.-5 p.m. and Beginning Hand Building for adults on Wednesday night (February 2–16) from 6:30 p.m.–8:30 p.m., or Clay Exploration for 5- to 12-year-olds on Wednesday afternoon (March 2–16) from 3:30 p.m.-5 p.m.

Fired Up's Clay Play sessions supply muddy visionaries with all the tools, materials, and expertise they need to dig deep into a block of clay and shape it into almost anything short of an ice sculpture. Whatever you make, Fired Up will take care of the all-important clay baking. When potters return a week later, the artful decorating begins. There’s no time limit to the painting-and-perfecting process, and should the final creation be pint-shaped, the studio encourages its artists to BYOB. Clay slingers who are overwhelmed by their options and crave more guidance can take three pottery classes in one giddily gloppy group class a week for three weeks. Beginning Hand Building teaches timid fingers how to roll out clay and work it by hand without accidentally creating a rampaging golem. Clay Exploration covers the same ground, but also teaches kids how to throw on the potter's wheel. As with Clay Play, all materials are provided by Fired Up, and traditional artist libations are welcome.
