Fundy Tidal Bore Adventures' two-hour tours depart twice daily from the shores by Gosse Bridge to surf the tidal bore of the Shubenacadie River. Waves from the Bay of Fundy rear their heads and twirl their watery moustaches as they surge down the river, causing undulating rapids and a temporary reversal of the river's flow in currents of nearly 30 km/hr. Seasoned river-guides thrill crew-members of all skill levels as they pilot motor-driven inflated rafts through 4- to 18-foot waves without the aid of paddling. During each excursion, riders may head to the riverbanks' clay slopes to mud-slide into the water or to create pots for housing captured mermaids. Guides tailor each tour to the group's comfort level, and depart at high or low tide for varying degrees of wave intensity. While Fundy Tidal Bore Adventures provides on-boat valuables storage, photographic records, and lifejackets, participants should bring their own towels, secure footwear, and waterproof painting canvasses.
