Historical Hotel Recalling Roaring Twenties with Old Spanish Flair
Once you step onto the gold-and-black checkered tile floor in Hotel Seville's lobby, it's easy to imagine a concierge welcoming well-dressed guests at the end of the Roaring Twenties. All around, you'll see chic furniture, Mediterranean-inspired archways, and a stately grand split staircase. Look up and you'll see an elegant chandelier and a raised ceiling that soars past the balconies of the second-floor mezzanine. Preservationists have worked hard to renovate the Arts and Crafts–style design scheme and reclaim the Old Spanish grandeur that once characterized the hotel.
The onsite John Paul's restaurant was named after local political legend John Paul Hammerschmidt, a U.S. congressman from Arkansas who served 13 terms. He also is notable for defeating future president Bill Clinton in a 1970s House of Representatives election. Here, you can sample casual fare such as sandwiches and burgers, or dig into the eatery's signature entree, steaks. The restaurant's seating spills over onto an outdoor patio, and on the weekends, the space frequently offers live entertainment.
Down in the game room, you can play a pickup game of darts or billiards, or throw the billiard balls on a moving treadmill and play catch with yourself. After a restful night's sleep in the hotel's quaint guest rooms, you can enjoy a complimentary continental breakfast. Hotel Seville also rents out complimentary bicycles so guests can pedal around the town of Harrison.
