Days 1 and 2: New York City
Your journey begins in New York City—the Unites States’ biggest city and the center of most of the tourist activity on the East Coast. You can cruise past Fifth Avenue’s designer boutiques and gaze up at skyscrapers during this 2-day stint in Manhattan.
- Rockefeller Center: This 22-acre cluster of high-rise buildings includes the headquarters for NBC and served as the inspiration for the show 30 Rock. Tour the interior of the GE building to see the Saturday Night Live set, get souvenirs, or see Midtown Manhattan from the top floor.
- Times Square: Even the train stations and fast-food joints are bedazzled with glittering lights in Times Square, where most of Manhattan’s activity centers. Broadway and the Theater District are just a couple blocks away.
- Optional tour: National September 11 Memorial & Museum and Hudson River cruise on day 2 ($45/person)
Days 3–5: Philadelphia and Washington, DC
Wake up bright and early on day 3 for the two-hour ride to Philadelphia. The tour spends time exploring Philly’s historic landmarks before settling in for the night in Washington, DC. Most of day 4 is dedicated to sightseeing in DC, home to the Smithsonian Institution and the National Mall.
- Liberty Bell: The legendary bell has been Philadelphia’s most beloved landmark since 1752. It tolled to mark the signing of the Declaration of Independence along with the deaths of George Washington and Benjamin Franklin. It’s said that if you stand close enough to the Liberty Bell, you can hear it make a sound.
- US Capitol Building: Snap pics of the signature columns and dome, or tour the interior to see historical artifacts from former presidents.
- Optional tours: Mount Vernon mansion tour on day 4 ($28/person) and Corning Museum of Glass on day 5 ($17/person)
Days 6–8: Niagara Falls, Albany, and Boston
The next stop is Niagara Falls, where you can take an optional tour of the Canadian side of the falls ($45/person; includes lunch), or spend extra time viewing the falls from New York’s Goat Island. Overnight in Albany before riding to the tour’s final stop, Boston, on day 7. You’ll have all day to stroll down Boston’s cobblestone streets, with stops at Harvard—America’s first university—and Copley Square. Head home the following day.
- Goat Island is flanked by the American and Canadian sides of Niagara Falls. Walk to Prospect Point’s observation tower in Niagara Falls State Park to get a bird’s-eye view of the surging waterfalls.
- Faneuil Hall Marketplace: Street performers engage in daring feats of balance as crowds navigate between food stalls that serve hot cups of Boston clam chowder, international cuisine, and wines from local vineyards.
- Optional tour: Lobster dinner at Boston’s No Name Restaurant on day 7 ($65/person)
