Airlie Hotel

Less than 50 miles from the busy streets of Washington, DC, Airlie sits on 300 acres of Virginia countryside. Here, trees give way to a lake and farmland, and every guest room looks out to water or the picturesque landscape.

  • Locally sourced is an understatement—ingredients for the two restaurants come from the hotel’s own farm and farms local to the hotel.
  • The great outdoors: Activities range from practicing archery to biking around the grounds.
  • Time to unwind: Walking the Fit Trail on the property
  • Storied history: A member of Historic Hotels of America, the property has hosted dignitaries including Martin Luther King Jr. and former President Jimmy Carter.
  • Things to do near Warrenton: There are more than a dozen wineries within 15 miles, and Manassas National Battlefield recounts two Civil War battles.

The grounds at Airlie are beautiful; Harry's was great, and the breakfast in the Airlie room was lovely. I would definitely recommend this for a romantic getaway, or for when you just need some peace and quiet. :)

Winery & Brewery Tour The properties of the Airlie were amazing. The temps were in the upper 90s - but we still wandered the property in the early morning. We plan to return in the fall to truly experience the outdoors.

An Idyllic Repose The location is lovely with the lakes, ponds and manicured gardens. The accommodations were nice but average for an above average resort. The biggest complaint is no restaurant, bar or cafe open on our visit! I understand that a full kitchen on a week night might not be warranted but a bar and a cafe for lunch and dinner would be better than none.

Beautifully Unique The grounds and setting are beautiful, the buildings are decorated nicely and the history is impressive. The food is good and the staff is very friendly. We wish the rooms were more comfortable and updated and our stay would have been great, we didn’t sleep very well. One thing we learned is Airlie mostly hosts large groups and does entertain individual reservations very often that are not attached to a large group, so we were a little out of context for them and we felt it.
