Puerto Vallarta, Mexico: Tropical Paradise with Cosmopolitan Flair

Puerto Vallarta is perhaps Mexico’s most sophisticated vacation destination, with expansive beaches, trendy restaurants, and cobblestone streets leading to beautifully preserved 19th-century churches. A 16-block boardwalk known as the malecón offers unobstructed ocean views as it extends from the city center, past fountains and a famous 9-foot-high statue of a boy riding a seahorse.

Called “the most gay-friendly city in Mexico” by Frommer’s, Vallarta draws a diverse crowd of vacationers intent on relaxing during the day and living it up at night, bouncing between the city’s numerous dance clubs. For a glimpse of the city’s history, head to Viejo Vallarta, also known as Old Town, where artists peddle shawls and piñatas and mariachi bands serenade couples dancing on Plaza Principal.

Amazing service ,views and food Highly recommended. Don’t hesitate to book a few weeks with your family. Ramon and David have built a great restaurant service staff . Beach access was very nice multiple showers to remove the sand. Boat rentals are very negotiable there’s a lot of competition for your service. But I highly recommend Ralph’s boat you can ask for him as soon as you go down the beach path.

Mostly decent minus food poisioning My sisters, mom and I all went for a long weekend to celebrate my mother's 60th birthday. The resort grounds seemed nicely maintained and we really enjoyed the adults-only pool. Our room (a premier family suite) was okay - we had a lovely room but our air conditioning wasn't the best and the room felt really damp. Everything felt like it needed a fresh coat of paint and dusting. The staff was overall very friendly and helpful and we had amazing massages at the spa. We enjoyed the majority of our meals but on our last night, we at at the outdoor grill and within 5 hours, all four of us were VIOLENTLY ill for the rest of the night and into the morning. We were all taking turns using the bathrooms to puke and manage our digestive horrors. We did call down to the resort and they had the doctor come up and look at some medicine options for my sister, who was 28 weeks pregnant and they did bring us some electrolyte drinks to try to help us rehydrate. No one apologized or took accountability for the fact that we got raging food poisoning on the resort, however. For that reason alone, we will not stay here again BUT I will say it was still a decent resort and if you are willing to take your chances with the food, you'll have a good time.
