Myrtle Beach, South Carolina: Sandy Beaches, Golf Courses, and Classic Amusement-Park Rides

Myrtle Beach is the crown jewel of South Carolina's Grand Strand, a 60-mile stretch of white-sand beaches along the Atlantic seaboard that draws surfers, fishers, and kayakers. The city was named one of the best vacation spots in the United States for a family by USA Today, in part because of its wooden boardwalk, which stretches for more than a mile. Hop into the SkyWheel Ferris wheel’s gondolas, surrounded by more than a million LED lights, for a panoramic view of the city below.

Less than 20 miles south of Myrtle Beach, the tiny fishing village of Murrells Inlet provides a tranquil contrast to the boardwalk's hustle and bustle. At Brookgreen Gardens, more than 2,000 sculptures stand amid sprawling floral gardens and massive, moss-covered oak trees that have been around for centuries. Murrells Inlet is also home to the Tom Fazio–designed TPC Myrtle Beach golf course, 1 of nearly 80 courses in the area that helped Myrtle Beach earn its title as the seaside golf capital of the world.

Beautiful stay Beautiful clean and spacious rooms. Remember to pack your comforter/blanket if you are always cold. As well as cooking pots and knives if you like making your meals. The lazy river was the best. They have several outdoor swimming pools and the are clean at all time as well as a spa. Many amenities to keep children and families occupied. We live d it.

Awful hotel- not clean in the least bit This was THE most disgusting place I’ve ever stayed at. I don’t know if Myrtle Beach has low standards, but I’ve never stated a place more disgusting as this. I went to target to go buy sheets for the bed because it was so nasty, as well as cleaning supplies. My kids didn’t even like staying here! I would recommend this place to zero people. No I’m sorry, if you are renting through an Airbnb, I would recommend this place because it’s right on the beach and the pools are nice. Otherwise this hotel is a hot mess and it’s disgusting. My friend rented through an Airbnb and had a great experience and her place was great. We went for a baseball tournament, so knew other people staying at this place. If I weren’t there for a baseball tournament and We went for a baseball tournament, so knew other people staying at this place. If I weren’t there for a baseball tournament and if I did not know other people there I would’ve left in a second and demanded a full refund. Beware.

Classic bait and switch Good stuff first: Housekeepers do an excellent job keeping 1st floor public areas clean. Thankfully we had a quiet room, a comfortable bed and sturdy patio furniture. Easy things to fix: Remove some decorative pillows and nicknacks, add a retractable laundry line in the tub, towel rods or hooks for wet towels and suits. Deliver clean towels when promised. Store cleaning supplies in a separate cupboard or closet. Really upsetting: Booked 2 months ahead. Tried using the online “choose your room” - ended up booking directly with the 800 number. The agent asked our expectations - “a quiet room with no one above us.” She up-charged me twice and told me she’d assigned a top floor room. Clearly a disconnect between reservations and property because a 3rd floor room was assigned at checked in. Was told top floor rooms require an extra charge - wasn’t that the up-charge? Was told there was no manager on duty (Sunday, 4:15pm). Property’s solution: No remedy was offered until we firmly threatened to cancel, started searching for alternatives and another guest showed up to resolve their room assignment dilemma. Instead of the top floor we thought we paid for we got a little better than halfway up. Lackluster checkout too - asked for a printed folio which was treated as an imposition. Wasn’t even thanked for our stay.
