Hotel at a Glance: Beacon South Beach

The award-winning Beacon South Beach makes itself right at home in South Beach's art-deco district. The hotel dates back to the late 1930s and is decorated in art-deco style. There's even a roaring '20s vibe at the onsite Mojito Bar. When you're ready to hit the town, you'll be close to several of South Beach's trendiest restaurants and bars along Ocean Drive. When you'd like to lounge along the beach, all you have to do is walk across the street.

  • Where you'll stay: Stylish guest rooms come with Nespresso machines, Smart TVs, and complimentary WiFi. Select rooms overlook the ocean, and you can take your towel when you head off to the beach.
  • Mojito Bar: Chill out at the hotel's bar, which serves refreshing tropical cocktails in a laid-back atmosphere.

Miami's South Beach: World-Famous Nightlife and Beaches

Just east of downtown Miami, on the barrier island that forms Miami Beach, you'll find one of the world's nightlife capitals: South Beach. The clubs along Ocean Drive are legendary for their boisterous, all-night blowouts—and for good reason. With all the rum-soaked mojitos, colorful neon, and celebrity sightings, it can feel like an endless party. Perhaps that's why the area pops up so often in film and TV shows, including Burn Notice and _The Birdcage_.

The coast of South Beach is known as Lummus Park, which Frommer's calls Miami's "best beach for people-watching." Head across the bay, to South Pointe Park or Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park, for quieter, more secluded shores.

Great location for a very tired looking hotel Location is great if you want to be in all the action. Sadly as the building is very old it comes with lots of challenges, it looks run down, the noise is really disruptive - pipework, doors banging. The hotel is relatively clean, but looks really rundown in places. There is also a non- negotiable local charge for beach towels, bike use, and seats for the beach even if you are not using any of them. Despite the great location we wouldn’t book to stay here again.

DO NOT STAY HERE This is THE WORST hotel I have EVER stayed in. I just wrote a LONG letter to the hotel with my complaints. Not only are the pictures completely misleading, but the staff is rude. The pictures of the rooms look like cute art deco rooms - a FAR cry from the sub-dorm room like rooms they actually have. AND to top it all off, the sheets were stained all over them with some of the stains being BLOOD! When I brought this up to the staff they did nothing about it. If I could give this hotel a 0 rating I would.

The worst hotel experience ever. I booked a King Suite with an Oceanfront View for January 9-11, 2025, at the Beacon Hotel in Miami through Booking.com. However, upon arrival, there was no King Suite with an Oceanfront room waiting for us. We were told that the hotel shall accommodate us in another available room type and that we could enjoy the room type we booked only LATER THE NEXT DAY! Unpacking and repacking again would have ruined our short stay in Miami. Tired after our voyage, we accepted to stay in a room with two beds. The receptionist had failed to mention that there were two tiny beds in the room and the quality of the room was questionable at best. Being a couple, that would not do. The receptionist was apologetic and understanding. Since there was no bed for two persons at the facility, we felt there were no choice but to exit the place to seek decent accommodation for a couple elsewhere. The receptionist informed us that this would be understandable and it was likely that we would get a refund after speaking with the manager. The MAJOR MALFUNCTION OF THIS PROPERTY for us was that the manager was incommunicado. We visited the hotel reception later and were told that we could not speak with the manager. We were given an email address, but the manager never responded to us. My advice: 1. Do not accept a room before checking it out personally.
Take photos of the room you are assigned to as soon as you open the door. Booking. com will ask you to provide them with photos in case of dispute. 2. Do not sign any paperwork without fully reading the contents and take photos of each paper you sign. Take your time even if there would be a queue behind your back at the reception.
 3. If charged 100€ for a deposit, ask for a receipt. They will not give a receipt to you.
If you pay cash, do not expect to get the money back in dollar bills (this was written on a recent Booking.com review of the hotel). 4. Whatever you do in order to protect your rights as a consumer, it is likely that there will be no reimbursement in a dispute case and they will get away with it. 5. The best advice: STAY AWAY FROM THIS FACILITY.
We are still waiting for the refund of 849.68€ that was charged. We did not stay at the hotel. Almost two months have passed and still no reply from the hotel.
