Sandpoint, Idaho: Lakeside Town in the Foothills of the Rockies

The northern Idaho town of Sandpoint is situated along the sparkling waters of Lake Pend Oreille and near the rugged peaks of Schweitzer Mountain. Scenic chairlift rides to the summit give passengers panoramic views that extend to Canada, Montana, and Washington. The chairlift also reaches high-altitude mountain-biking and hiking trails. One is the 2.5-mile Nature Trail, which wends past wildflowers and huckleberry bushes and offers the chance to spot deer and hawks.

Schweitzer Mountain boasts picturesque views of Lake Pend Oreille, the largest in Idaho. Visitors and locals flock to the lake each summer to cool off with watersports such as standup paddleboarding and jet skiing. Fishing is a big draw, too—kokanee salmon and rainbow trout make their homes in these glacier-fed waters.

Ruined vacation with family Well… This hotel does not cost the money we paid. Dirty, old, smelly, disgusting. We were running out from it every morning we woke up and did not want to return to it every evening. To fix it there is only one option I can see. Demolish it and build the new one. Terrible. We will never go back there and in your chain of hotels. Money wasted and negative experience. the only positive there is location, apart from every minute train run.

In need of major update We are members of Best Western rewards program and have stayed at many over the years. We actually stayed at this location probably 15 years ago and I believe not one thing has been done since then. We were in room 145. As others have said it does have location but that is where it ends. Online they have a place were you can put in when you are arriving. Even if your room is ready early no room keys are given out until 3pm so do not rush to get there if you need your room early. The rooms are filthy and run down. I am attaching pictures. A half drank bottle of sprite was left in the refrigerator, the white cover on the bed has stains all over it, I really appreciated the black out curtain with all the holes in it, the chair was dirty, pool was out of service, furniture has chips in it and the list goes on. I can not believe that they charge 269 a night for this place. On the weekends you also have to book 2 nights in the summer. We went for just a quick overnight get away and if we were not so far from our house I would have left and went home. You are better off just sleeping on the beach. Skip this place.

Dated, horrible beds, terrible service Dated rooms, terrible beds. We called to say our train was delayed and would be checking in late, but when we arrived our reservation had been cancelled. We were charged again for a room we had already paid for. The room and hallway were uncomfortably hot. We won't be returning.
