Built more than a century ago, Boston Hotel Buckminster’s red-brick façade still commands attention in Kenmore Square. The venue has hosted performances by jazz legends including Billie Holiday and Charles Mingus. More notoriously, it was the site of the planning for the 1919 baseball-fixing scheme known as the Black Sox Scandal. With nearly 450,000 works, including several photography collections, it’s one of the most comprehensive art museums in the world. There are plenty of restaurants and bars to check out in the area, too, especially on the BU campus, which is centered on the neighborhood’s namesake square.
