Sandusky, Ohio: Family-Friendly Town with Amusement Parks Along Lake Erie

The town of Sandusky lies on the shores of Lake Erie, about midway between Cleveland and Toledo. It's a family-friendly destination with a slew of theme parks and scenic coastal islands. Cedar Point, open May through October, is one of the oldest amusement parks in the United States and a must-do for thrill seekers. The park’s Millennium Force roller coaster set records as the tallest and fastest in the world when it was introduced in 2000. More recently, the GateKeeper scooped up seven world records when it opened in 2013, including the "longest drop on a wing coaster."

If you prefer a slower pace, visit Sandusky’s former post office, which has been transformed into the Merry-Go-Round Museum. The grand building is full of antique carousels of all shapes and sizes, restored to their original splendor; it’s also rumored to house a couple of ghosts. More spooky fun awaits at Ghostly Manor Thrill Center, which features a haunted house, a roller rink, a 4D theater, black-light mini golf, and bounce houses.

Really good experience, very friendly staff, clean resort overall, very accommodating, for once a resort that actually responds in a timely manner when you call for room service/housekeeping. The only problem I experienced was an issue with the water temperature in our bathroom but we informed the staff and the manager on shift (Jo) at the time we were checking out accommodate us with no issue.

Don’t get hurt ! They don’t care First we’re in the hot tub and the kid that’s supposed to to watching and counting heads was sitting in a chair doing nothing. Got yelled at by his supervisor and then moved to the 2 person slide. My 8 yr old daughter is up at the slide, this guy lets her get in, she said she wanted out didn’t want to go alone, she started to climb out of the boat shape tube and the guy let the conveyor start, she falls out, end riding down the entire slide out of the boat. This water slide had conveyors like a roller coaster to take you up before you go down. Her right leg from her ankle to her was scraped up really bad. She swallowed a ton of water and the on site EMS had to take care of her. A few workers checked to make sure we were okay at the moment and never heard from them again. I asked the next day to see the video and it was like a rehearsed response to my request, had to wait to talk to manager on location, who then said I can’t do much for you, her is Cals card, he is the park manager and he can take care of things for you. Well CAL hasn’t called back and I have left multiple messages. Her butt is still all scabbed up after over a week. She could have been seriously hurt and what does castaway bay do, ignore it like it didn’t happen.

Do not go! Staff is very rude. Rooms were dirty, overall hotel is very dirty. Restaurant's shown on website are no longer open. No quiet hours. People and kids running in the hallways past 11 at night. Activity's that were on the agenda were not available

Don't waste your time or money. Don't waste your time. Rude staff, very dirty, water was cold. Nothing but issue after issue with this particular property. There are better options in the area. You would be better off spending your money elsewhere. This particular trip was very underwhelming.
