The town of Sandusky lies on the shores of Lake Erie, about midway between Cleveland and Toledo. It's a family-friendly destination with a slew of theme parks and scenic coastal islands. Cedar Point, open May through October, is one of the oldest amusement parks in the United States and a must-do for thrill seekers. The park’s Millennium Force roller coaster set records as the tallest and fastest in the world when it was introduced in 2000. More recently, the GateKeeper scooped up seven world records when it opened in 2013, including the "longest drop on a wing coaster."

If you prefer a slower pace, visit Sandusky’s former post office, which has been transformed into the Merry-Go-Round Museum. Great family vacation. For the past 12 years old family goes to Cedar Point for Halloweekends in September. We rent cottages and RV sites, very convenient for going into the amusement park. It’s a wonderful family event! We’re making memories with our kids and grandkids. Priceless!

Cedar point RV Park, no cash excepted credit cards only The campground is very nice with full hookups and the bath houses were clean and air-conditioned and is on the lake. The parks and beach are not far and there is a free shuttle bus. You can buy park tickets at the sign in desk or at the gate had a very nice experience

Cozy rest after a day of coasters Peaceful lakefront cabin with all amenities (except hair dryer). Close proximity to Waterpark and amusement park. Comfortable mattresses and clean, comfortable bath. Separate rooms for snorers/non-snorers. Everyone slept comfortably and enjoyed the pool and splash pad after a long day on the rides.

Convient to the park with nice water views We stayed 2 nights here in our motorhome. We stayed in a Lakeview, premium patio site. The site was on the water and had a firepit, dining table and a glider to watch the sunsets. Site was nice and large. Bathrooms were clean and plentiful, store was well stocked and office workers were friendly and helpful and it's super convient to get to the park (Cedar Point) via shuttle or walking. Now for the things that I thought could be improved. 1) There seems to be zero quiet hours, or no enforcement. 2) After dark the lighting is horrible walking back to the park. The ground lighting just blinds you, the look great in daylight, but are terrible walking back from the park after dark. 3) The site, while nice and spacious, looked as if it gets blown off or sprayed once a season. It was filthy. The dining table was covered in spider webs and grime, trash in the firepit and I then there's the grill. Dirt stacked up behind the table was just gross. For $200 a night, I expect it to be swept/blown. That said, we enjoyed our stay and the convenience of being in the park, but would not pay for a premium site in the future.

Good but needs improvement -- shuttle and bath house We were in an RV. Overall, campground was very nice. Two complaints though -- first, the shuttle to Cedar Point doesn't have a schedule, you just call them when you want it. Which means you usually end up waiting at least 20 mins. They should make a schedule, like all other public transportation in the world. Second, one of the set of the bathhouses (at the pool) was not clean. Should be cleaned more thoroughly and regularly.
