Santa Cruz, California: Seaside Town with Free-Spirit Attitude

Located about an hour and a half south of San Francisco, Santa Cruz is an eccentric coastal town on Monterey Bay’s northern fringe. The downtown street performers frequently transform Pacific Avenue into a stage with dancing, drumming, and historical reenactments of the famed Lincoln-Douglas mud-wrestling matches. The fun continues at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, a seaside amusement park home to thrill rides and a carousel from 1911. From the top of the Ferris wheel, you can take in bird’s-eye views of surfers catching waves in the Pacific.

Amazing massage experience with Peri I wanted to share my awesome experience with the spa. The grounds are well kept and lovely. I had the pleasure of getting a massage from Peri in a beautiful. room that overlooked a gorgeous outdoor pond. Peri gave me an amazing massage with just the right deep tissue and rhythm throughout. I nodded for a bit which is always a good sign that the massage was phenomenal.

Best massage in Santa Cruz The spa at Chaminade is amazing. Enjoyed a truly wonderful deep-tissue massage from Belinda. She worked on specific issues with my shoulder and my hip. So grateful for the relief. When you go, ask for her! You will feel like a brand new human. Can’t wait to go back for a facial.

Poky room and abysmal Easter Brunch We stayed two nights around the Easter Brunch. Starting with the room admittedly we booked a standard King which but IMHO the room was badly designed: there was no table or chair, the bathroom door was glass and facing the room so anyone using the bathroom at night would disturb the other occupant, the bed was uncomfortable and the comforter was too thick. Moving on to dinner in The View, the setting is amazing and the wait staff were excellent but the menu was disappointing and the kitchen took far too long to prepare our food. They also messed up a simple instruction related to allergies and had to remake one dish. Though kudos for completely remaking the dish and not simply replating it. But the biggest disappointment was the Easter Brunch, we arrived at our pre booked time and had a half hour wait to check in then all the hot food was either missing or cold. My wife went to the carving station and was served a square inch of prime rib. Then for dessert, one again the tables were bare, it chose a slice of carrot cake to find it was still frozen. -2 for that: Not fresh and not properly thawed.
