Super Enjoyable Experience My wife and I recently spent 2 nights at Chase on the Lake, and it was awesome. I can't say enough about everything including front desk, wait staff, and house keeping. Everyone was pleasant and helpful. The resort has several room types, but we picked a spacious lakeside balcony with an amazing view of Leech Lake. The bar/restaurant has a large deck that extends right up to the crystal clear waters of the huge lake. The food was extremely good and would highly recommend the almond crusted walleye. There is a paved bike trail right across the road that winds through dense forest and along lakes. This was such an enjoyable experience we booked a return for next summer. Well done Chase on the Lake!!

Brainerd Lakes Area, Minnesota: Outdoor Haven with Hundreds of Lakes and Wooded Trails

More than 500 lakes and rivers make up the Brainerd Lakes area in northeastern Minnesota. It’s just a two-hour drive from the Twin Cities, making it a popular retreat for city dwellers. Where there aren’t lakes, there are forests; the most popular hike is the Paul Bunyan Trail, a paved, 110-mile path named after the legendary lumberjack (whom Brainerd claims as a native son). You can learn more about the gentle giant at Paul Bunyan Land, a family-friendly amusement park.

The Brainerd Lakes area offers a wealth of opportunities to get outdoors. The walleye fishing here is particularly good; Brainerd’s known for its annual ice-fishing tournament, held every January. You can take to nearby Mount Ski Gull for snowboarding, tubing, and downhill skiing all winter long. When the weather warms up, join the crowds at Brainerd International Raceway, which hosts stock car, motorcycle, and hot rod races throughout the summer and early fall.

Way Overpriced For costing $350/night (and that's with AAA discount), I would expect more. We stayed at the hotel, not the condos. The room and hotel was very outdated and run down. Peeling wallpaper, an air conditioner that was so loud it woke us up every time it turned on at night, the beds were not comfortable, a relative who stayed in a different room said there was a crack all along their bathroom mirror. It's neat being in a 100 year old building, but it desperately needs attention and updates. The front desk staff however were very nice, friendly, and helpful. The main pool is small but nice. There was another small pool, 4 ft deep, that was really cold (not sure what purpose that was, definitely not a hot tub!). Overall, the staff were very nice but the room and building really needs updates and fixes. I wouldn't recommend staying at the hotel.

Property has REALLY GONE DOWNHILL. This resort used to be held to a much higher standard. This is classified as a destination resort for relaxation and fun. Many years ago it was that. I stayed here this past weekend and from check in to check out there was no feeling of grandness or relaxation. The staff are all DULL and Unpleasant. No cheery greeting upon check in, no information about property, nothing. We went down to bar and had a few drinks and the bartenders were some of the most boring bartenders I have ever met. No conversation, no smiles, no manners. Then we went and had dinner at 502 and they were sold out of most of their limited menu and the server again seemed like she hated her job and just wanted us out of there. We were gonna go have more drinks at the bar to unwind but LOL they were already closed by 9PM!!!!!!!! ON A SATURDAY with a FULL HOTEL............. unbelievable..... and no mention of this at check in or when we were sitting at the bar earlier. The Rooms were dirty, curtains had an inch of dust on them and the bathroom door had water marks all over it and make up finger prints all over it........ I used to love this resort..... but after this last stay I am so unbelievable disappointed in the price I paid and the service received and room quality. I don't think I will ever go back....... Much Much Better places to stay in Minnesota.

Safety is not a concern disappointed that snowmobile rental wasn't available. Was VERY disappointed that my daughter and I both got cut from glass in the hottub, but the hottub wasn't shut down to remove the glass, nor was anything done for us about it by the staff. She was cut earlier In our stay, but thought it might just be a scratch from the sides or something. She bled profusely and I told the staff and got a bandaid for her. I went in the hottub later last night and then I got cut by something sharp in the hot tub also. I can only assume glass. As a former hotel manager I was disappointed to see the hottub wasn't drained or closed to find the glass after I informed staff that I had been cut, and also bled in the hottub. That's very unsafe and kind of lazy of the hotel. I know it's a lot of work, but I guess guess safety is not their number 1 concern. _ I informed the front desk three times in total, and gave them the very bloody towel from my daughter as well. I'm very disappointed and surprised nothing was done for us about this. As a former hotel manager, this was VERY surprising that TWO people from one room were hurt, and nothing at all was done. And no regular bandaids on hand, although the front desk girl was VERY VERY nice and did search for about 5 mins to give is some weirdly shaped bandaids.

Disappointing We had heard good things about this place, but were very disappointed. The front desk staff seemed to lack any desire to provide customer service or enthusiasm for our visit. We were given no information about Covid precautions, nor was anything posted. We later went on to an email and after searching we found that there was breakfast to go which we were not informed of upon checkin. We also found nothing on their website about Covid precautions. We were supposed to have a bag in our room for soiled linens but there was not one. There was a coffee cup full of ketchup packets which we questions whether they were left by the last guests. We stayed in a room with 2 beds and a pull out couch and they were told there would be three people. We had no coffee packets, not enough towels, no bedding for the pull out bed, and the mattress on it was very very poor.. Our room was spacious with a great view of the lake and the best part of our stay. We thought the restaurant had great food and good service.
