Shreveport, LA: “Sportsman’s Paradise” with Numerous Area Casinos

Shreveport is Louisana’s third-largest city, but it occupies a rather different space than neighbor cities Baton Rouge and New Orleans. Situated in the northern part of the state, it’s less swampy than the Gulf Coast, with many rivers and lakes popular with boaters and fishers. The 8,500-acre Cross Lake—just to the west of downtown Shreveport—has banks lined with moss-covered cypress trees, and it’s inhabited by alligators and waterfowl.

Also inhabiting the rivers around Shreveport are an abundance of casinos, the area’s main draw. Most are open 24 hours and feature various restaurants. In addition to hundreds of slot machines, Harrah’s Louisiana Downs in nearby Bossier City has one of the nation’s largest horse-racing tracks. Once you’ve bet and gambled your fill, you can head to the downtown area to tour beautiful mansions along Fairfield Avenue or sample the local cuisine. Try some boiled crawfish from a streetside vendor, or a famous strawberry pie from Strawn’s Eat Shop, a local institution.

Might as well be in a tent under the highway If you find yourself staying here, do not allow them to put you in a room on the back side of the hotel. Rooms 128-138 & 228-238. These rooms are directly under several highways. If the noise from the trucks does not keep you up all night, the room literally shaking every few minutes certainly will. All. Night. Long. Absolutely the least ‘restful’ hotel I have ever stayed at. Shame on this hotel for even booking guests in these rooms. Also, the elevator is broken so A+ for fitness opportunities here.

Overall OK My family and I stayed at the hotel on 12-2-23 for a football champion playoff game. The hotel was completed booked with all the player, families and friends. Cecilia G was very friendly and showed GREAT customer service. Marcus the other customer person was not so friendly or helpful. I went to the front desk for assistance and Marcus did not acknowledge me present at all. I had to get his attention to get some assistance and he was not friendly at all. The hotel ran out of food for the breakfast due to the hotel being completed booked. They should have planned better for this event. Overall my stay was ok. Lakeisha Fields

Worst stay ever They are advertising that the hotel is stock and brand new it's Not also don't rent rooms with wet carpet. Stock the Market. Stock the breakfast buffet. Don’t have employees from Renaissance Hotel working Holiday Inn Brand, as a favor to a Holiday Inn employee. This employee was working the Breakfast Room by himself and he did not even work there. This was not good. The breakfast was cleaned out by 7:30am. No food, no nothing. This motel is worth about $30 dollars a night. Bathroom floors were not clean, front door didn’t open easily, and mini fridge leaked water on floor. And it states that it's under new management but this was the worst hotel stay ever. The last couple reviews is coming for the people that works there.
