Philadelphia’s Center City: Historic Landmarks and Museums

The historic Center City neighborhood, also known as downtown Philadelphia, dates back to the city’s founding in 1682. Today, Center City is Philadelphia’s central business district, with several skyscrapers and high-profile museums. The neighborhood is also home to Independence National Historical Park, whose high concentration of notable landmarks makes it America’s most historic square mile. While you’re here, visit Independence Hall—the birthplace of the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution—or head to the Liberty Bell Center to see the approximately 2,000-pound bell.

The shops of Historic Antique Row are less than a mile from here. The small, locally-owned shops stock everything from oriental rugs to vintage clothing. Head about 15 minutes northwest to scale the famous steps outside the Philadelphia Museum of Art, where Rocky Balboa once pumped his fists victoriously. Inside, the massive museum’s holdings range from ancient Chinese art to famous paintings by Claude Monet, Salvador Dalí, and Vincent van Gogh.

Bed bugs!!!

BED BUGS Don't go here!!! The hotel has bed bugs and the staff don't seem to care enough to do anything about it!! I found a live bed bug crawling in the room (which means there are likely many many more where that came from). When we told the staff in the lobby, they denied it's a bed bug (even after seeing the photo) and claimed it's "impossible" for the hotel to have bed bugs, due to some special mattress covers they use (they don't even HAVE mattress covers). They said "oh it must have been another bug" as if their "special mattress covers" (which don't exist) work on ONLY bed bugs and allow other bugs in. After enough pressure, they reluctantly asked someone to come check our room. The guy checking our room slightly lifted one corner of the mattress for 1 second and claimed there are no bed bugs - it was a very pathetic and disingenuous search. They reluctantly agreed to change our room, but moved us to the room directly beside the infested room.... They did nothing at all to compensate us or even just apologize. I bet they just gave the infested room to the next guest right away. They probably knew about the bed bugs, since they did not seem surprised. I had to throw out so many of my belongings, and heat treat all my things, and spent the last week being stressed waiting to see if I missed anything and brought any critters home with me.... next time I'm spending more money on a hotel that actually cares about its guests :(

It’s a Dump!!!! I was not expecting the Ritz or The Four Seasons, however, when I opened the door with my room key, I DID expect to see a bed made and a clean bathroom with no dirty towels. The manager was less than pleasant & NOT apologetic. We purchased a water bottle from a cooler & realized it had been opened & was 1/3 Full. How DIsgusting is that?

Bad Renovation One of those they hype renovated rooms. Then you can immediately tell what was changed, was done poorly. The bathtub with bad grout remains, bad paint job, bad carpet installation, still beat up furniture
