Kissimmee, Florida: Easy Access to Walt Disney World Theme Parks and Major Orlando Attractions

Located on the banks of Lake Tohopekaliga, Kissimmee sits about 22 miles from downtown Orlando and just 16 miles from the Walt Disney World Theme Parks. The world’s most-visited entertainment resort, it spans roughly 30,000 acres, encompassing four theme parks, two water parks, five golf courses, and the Walt Disney World Theme Parks. There’s no shortage of things to do here: begin your day at Magic Kingdom Park by boarding Magic Kingdom Park, a rocket-shaped three-seater that climbs to 180 feet before entering a deep black tunnel and racing past stars, satellites, and constellations. After that, ride past the ghastly goofballs inside The Haunted Mansion. For dinner, head over to Epcot to sample cuisine from Morocco, Mexico, France, Italy, and several other countries at the Walt Disney World Theme Parks. As one of the most popular family destinations in the world, sunny Orlando is home to other theme parks including Universal Orlando Resort and SeaWorld Orlando.

Those hoping to shake up the typical theme-park-dominated itinerary can head into downtown Orlando's vibrant arts district. The neighborhood boasts venues such as the CityArts Factory, a multifaceted patchwork of gallery spaces, and SAK Comedy Lab, which holds improv shows five nights a week.

About a 10-minute drive north, you’ll find several cultural institutions surrounding Orlando Loch Haven Park, including the Orlando Museum of Art, with a collection featuring pieces by Georgia O’Keeffe, Robert Rauschenberg, Ansel Adams, and Andy Warhol. The park is also home to the Orlando Shakespeare Theater and the Orlando Science Center. Visit the Science Center to take a rover across a simulation of Mars’s red surface or race model cars down a 70-foot pinewood-derby track.

The hotel did not have a reservation for my son and I. Once I arrived 5 hrs from home to the hotel I was told that they reached out to Groupon is email the morning of the booking and advised them they had no rooms. Groupon didn’t reach out to me. I was at the hotel desk 9pm at night trying to get a room. I’m still trying to get refunded from this

DAY LATE AND OVER PRICED The stay was far inferior than expected. Front desk very slow. Room not ready for 3 hours AFTER check in time. Our room wasn't even ready until 6:30. 2 rooms were to be side by side. This ended up with 1 room on 2nd floor and the other on the 4th floor. Requested rooms closest to the elevator due to disabilities. They placed both rooms at the FAR END of the hall and wouldn't make any adjustment. No shower curtain. Electric outlet didn't work. Lousy breakfast. It might be a LITTLE cheaper than some hotels around here. Spend the extra $50 or so and get a far better experience. I will never return here again not any other Comfort Inn.

Don’t stay if you like a clean hotel Terrible, the only good thing about it is the location being close to Disney. I stayed for two weeks and am highly disappointed. Very dirty (I reported cockroaches multiple times in my room and they did not appear to care). I pay an additional hotel fee upon check in but they only clean the suite every 3 days, they don’t even make the beds. They took our towels but did not replace them and we had to go down to reception to get new ones as they said they don’t bring items to the rooms (that’s the first hotel I’ve heard of that does not do that). It looked like blood on our bathroom door at check in and no one cleaned it even after we reported it (I cleaned it). Just very dirty and unprofessional. The hot tub was dirty, I did not even want to go in. The whole pool area is quite run down. The back parking lot where they have the pool has people smoking and working on their trucks, it does not give a family friendly vibe. Breakfast is waffles, powder eggs, sausage and hashbrowns. Yoghurt, toast and cereal daily. With a sign asking for tips. Not a terrible breakfast but definitely one of the worst complimentary breakfasts I’ve had. I tried to ask one of the staff a question to which she responded to me that she does not speak English and then ignored me, I figured she could have at least gotten someone who does speak English to help me instead of ignoring a guest. That was very unprofessional in my opinion. Overall it is definitely not a place I would be going back to.

Rundown hotel and poor support/cancellation policies We had a poor experience with our stay. Too many mishaps to include them all, but sharing for others so that they know. Some guests were leaving the hotel that night despite having been in their room, they were told they would receive a refund. They stated the rooms did not match their standards and did not match how they were presented online. We should have taken heed of this immediately. Unfortunately the hotel's cancellation policy is very poor - requires more than 48 hours notice. We had a split stay, one night each, two nights apart. We were highly disappointed in the quality of hotel as it did not match what appeared online. So much so that we did not return for our second stay two nights later and instead paid for a second hotel. We could not cancel our second stay, even though it was two days later and we explained the situation. We were told to expect a call back from the manager, never received one despite following up many times. We ended up exchanging emails with a staffer after a poor review, only to land at they "cannot refund the stay due to the cancellation policy." The shuttles that run to the parks are at inconvenient times and nowhere near park open or close. The whole hotel is very muggy and dew was everywhere. We couldn't even hold the handrails in the stairwell as they were soaking wet. Many spots of the metal trim in the rooms is rusted. I am used to Florida humidity struggles having stayed there >30 times in my life. I have never experienced a place so saturated with moisture like this. We requested a pack-n-play ahead of time. We called the hotel day of our arrival, same day we were flying out, and they stated they had a packnplay "already in the room" for us. So we left our packnplay home. When we arrived they had no packnplay which made for a long and tiresome night with our 1 yr old. We were excited about having a room with bunkbeds for our girls. Unfortunately they are right at the doorway. We arrived late from flights and there was so much questionable activity in the parking lot and at the entrance of the hotel that we were uncomfortable having our girls sleep in the bunks. Be warned, the bunks are only rated to something like 125lbs though as stated on the beds. The sheets on the bunks were not nearly long enough for anyone over about the age of 6, even short for someone that size. Breakfast was decent and folks were very helpful there. Really wish we hadn't stayed here. Big disappointment from what we expected seeing things online through photos and how the hotel sold itself on proximity and access to the parks. Run-down, rusty, poor service, lack of packnplays, high volume of questionable late-night activity at the hotel.
