Atlanta, Georgia: Urban Parks and Renowned Aquarium in Capital of the South

Named 1 of 50 Places of a Lifetime by National Geographic, Atlanta lies near the Chattahoochee River in Georgia's northwest region known for its famed trees: magnolias, pines, and dogwoods. Despite a metropolitan population of more than five million and what is considered the world's busiest airport by passenger count, Atlanta seems to always offer a relaxing escape. Stroll through the 185 acres of botanical gardens, hiking trails, and oaks at Piedmont Park, or study one of the country's largest Civil War exhibitions at the Atlanta History Center.

Anchored by historical Peachtree Street, the city's midtown area boasts a thriving arts-and-culture scene. Opened in 1929, the Fox Theatre features imposing Egyptian architecture and a custom-made organ with a network of 3,622 pipes. Tours take place on Monday, Thursday, and Saturday. The High Museum of Art spotlights more than 12,000 pieces of contemporary and folk art, ranging from Renaissance paintings to photographs from the civil-rights era. Kids might better enjoy the Georgia Aquarium, located downtown at Centennial Olympic Park. One of the world's largest aquariums with more than 8 million gallons of fresh and marine water and more than 100,000 animals, the aquarium is home to beluga whales, lionfish, whale sharks, bottlenose dolphins, and more.

Stay away from this hotel at all costs This is a horrible hotel. Never go here. I prepaid all of our college team's rooms. However, the hotel charged one of our professors $145.01 on her personal credit card the day we got there. I have left 5 nice voicemails for both their "accounting" and their "billing departments" for the last two weeks but no one has returned my calls. No one answers their phones - try calling their main number - 1-404-659-6500 and see if you can get any to answer in any department. The check in process was terrible. They add an unexpected "hotel resort fee" of $27.23 a day per room. The manager should be fired. Stay away from this hotel. I never write reviews, but I'm so frustrated I need to speak out.

Great Experience The staff were super polite and helpful too. They were quick to help me find spots to eat and things to do. The building was clean and looked very tidy as well. The room I stayed in was spacious, and the bathroom was clean as well. The breakfast was amazing as well. It was nice to have decent breakfast at a hotel for a change. I really enjoyed my time staying at the hotel and would definitely stay there again if I ever return to Atlanta.

Unsafe Pool, Under Staffed Arrived and waited 35min to get my car to valet due to not having enough valet staff, then another 45 to get to the customer service desk. Received a text that the pool is closed for a private party and will reopen at 7pm. At 6:45pm the wedding hadn't even started. Got to the pool at 8pm and it was so crowded it wasn't safe at all. I have photos. Was told to go to the service desk to get extra towels and blankets bt trxt concierge. Waited 20min to get to the desk. While waiting a couple who's flight was delayed was told their reservation was canceled, three large families walked in and were not staying at the hotel but walked in to use the pool because no one is regulating it talking loudly about how it's free and no one checks. I was slapped and kicked multiple times trying to watch my child swim until I left because I didn't feel safe. A cold could easily go under and drown. I HIGHLY recommend you stay ANYWHERE else. I booked the next two nights and want a refund so I can go to a pool that we can actually swim in. This hotel is understaffed and unsafe!
