Folsom, CA: A Legacy of Gold, Progress, and Natural Beauty

Nestled along the American River in Northern California, Folsom stands as a testament to the pioneering spirit that shaped the American West. Best known for its Gold Rush roots and the legendary Folsom Prison—immortalized by Johnny Cash—this city has seamlessly blended its storied past with modern growth. Historic Folsom, with its 19th-century architecture, cobbled streets, and the iconic Rainbow Bridge, preserves the town’s rich heritage, while the Folsom Historic District offers a vibrant mix of museums, shops, and dining. The city’s proximity to Sacramento and the Sierra Nevada foothills has made it a hub of culture, commerce, and outdoor recreation, attracting both history buffs and nature enthusiasts alike.

Beyond its historical significance, Folsom thrives as a center for innovation and outdoor adventure. The vast expanse of Folsom Lake State Recreation Area provides a haven for boating, fishing, and hiking, with scenic trails like the Johnny Cash Trail connecting the past to the present. High-tech industries, top-rated schools, and a strong sense of community define the city’s progressive character, making it one of California’s most sought-after places to live. Central spot and kind staff My son and I had a fantastic stay at this hotel! We were in town for a family event and chose this hotel for its convenient location near my brother’s home. It’s centrally located in Folsom, making it easy to walk to everything—restaurants, markets, stores, and even a theater. The area offers plenty of options for dining and entertainment. Our room was spotless, and the comforter was incredibly cozy—I slept like a baby! Breakfast had a good variety of options, and I found myself ordering the avocado toast every morning—it was delicious. While there’s no on-site pool, guests can swim at the hotel next door. The gym was a decent size, well-maintained, and everything was in working order. The highlight of our stay was the exceptional service. Nick truly stood out—he was incredibly kind, helpful, and full of great recommendations. He greeted us warmly every day and even went out of his way to engage with my son, making our stay feel extra special. The GM also took the time to say hello, which was a nice touch. Even before we arrived, Brian was extremely helpful over the phone, answering my questions with kindness and patience. I highly recommend this hotel and would absolutely stay here again!

Fantastic Service I had zero expectations going to this hotel as I chose it because it part of Marriott Bonvoy and was close to where I needed to be during the day. Every interaction from arriving through leaving was exceptional. The room was very good and comfortable. It isn't luxury but the rooms were large and well designed. Not sure I'll be back in Folsom any time soon but I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Great Staff Excellent Customer Service; especially Kelly;allowed a 2 pm check out in order to go pick up our hospitalized dog at UC Davis and sorted out a minor billing error efficiently. Rooms are nice; had a running toilet and some heater issues but all in all a nice stay because of the staff. Also very convenient location across street from a great shopping center The Palladio.

Paying to park in an empty parking lot is lame Overall hotel was nice. Room was nice and clean. AC worked great. I guess the thing I noticed at the end was that it was very pricy for 2 nights. I had a golden retriever with me so that added 100$ - I would say that we left the room in perfect condition :) And then parking was another extra XX dollars a day extra too in a pretty empty lot. So it ended up being a pretty expensive stay and you know money feels tighter these days. Front desk was nice and helpful.
