New Orleans, LA: The Timeless Soul of the Crescent City

A city steeped in history, culture, and an unyielding spirit, New Orleans stands as a living testament to the resilience and vibrancy of the American South. Founded in 1718 by the French and later shaped by Spanish, African, and Creole influences, the city exudes an old-world charm that weaves through its cobblestone streets and wrought-iron balconies. The historic French Quarter, with its iconic St. Louis Cathedral and lively Bourbon Street, offers a sensory feast of jazz melodies, Cajun flavors, and festive energy. Beyond its famed revelry, New Orleans preserves its past in elegant mansions, storied cemeteries, and the hauntingly beautiful Garden District, each narrating a tale of its own.

The lifeblood of the city, the mighty Mississippi River, has shaped its commerce, culture, and identity for centuries. Paddlewheel boats still grace its waters, evoking an era of grandeur, while the bustling Warehouse Arts District celebrates modern creativity with world-class galleries and museums. The city’s deep-rooted musical legacy echoes in the jazz halls of Frenchmen Street, where improvisation and passion fuel an art form born in its very heart. Whether savoring a beignet at Café du Monde, exploring the mysteries of voodoo lore, or immersing in the electric energy of Mardi Gras, New Orleans remains an enduring symbol of tradition, celebration, and an unbreakable connection to its storied past.

MADISON was a Rockstar!!!!! Overall, the Marriott Courtyard was comfortable. But there was one employee, MADISON, that gave the absolute BEST customer service I have experienced in quite a while. She went above and beyond taking care of my every need from the moment I arrived until the moment I left. Madison was delightful. I am so grateful to her for her exemplary attention. She is to be applauded.

Definitely needs a makeover I checked in yesterday. This is a fairly poor excuse for a hotel - motel is more like it. First the positives. It is close to the convention center. Some of the towels are very soft. The bed is comfortable. The A/C, if it works in your room, goes down to 60 degrees. The elevators, at least on the 4th floor, do not 'ding' which is good because I am about 10 feet away from them. The shower does hot and cold water (you'd be surprised how many hotel showers won't give you cold water once the hot has been on) and the water pressure is good. I was far enough away from St. Peters Street and the nightclub (by request) and my windows did not rattle from the noise at 2am. The negatives. There is no dresser, only 2 smallish drawers. There is no plug in the sink drain - just a gaping hole; heaven forbid you drop anything in the sink because it will be gone. There is a tiny amount of counterspace around the sink and no other place to put your things. There is no safe. In New Orleans, Crescent City of Crime, there is no room safe. There is no room service and when a call was made at 9pm to order food from the in-house 'restaurant' that is open to 11pm they said they had no food. The internet is ridiculously bad. I am having to type this using my phone as a hot spot. When I called for assistance, I was told that they didn't know why their internet did not recognize my name and room number but "the internet works". It shows less than 2 bars. I took my laptop downstairs to registration and she told me sometimes 'their system takes hours to register a guest', hooked me up to the conference internet, didn't give me the code, and it only lasted 1 day (I am here for 10). The lighting in the room is grotesque. It's icy cold white light which they have tried to warm up with creepy paper shades that are stained like someone took a piss on them. Anyone can go to the guest room floors because they stick pizza flyers in the room doors. Carpet in the room is thin, frayed and threadbare.

Awful hotel I asked to have my room away from the elevator but we were right next to it. The shower leaked and the room is outdated. No breakfast and no bar. Concierge’s were useless. Reception was awful. The location is poor . The hotel looked uninviting and not appealing at all.

Windows Rattling All Night. Miserable!! Do not stay at this hotel if you value sleep. The windows rattle from the clubs located adjacent to the hotel. It took 20 minutes for the front desk to answer my call to inquire about how late this might go on. I was told “there isn’t anything we can do about it…you are in New Orleans. Period. No empathy, no offer to move to another room, NO customer service. Miserable stay. 03/14/2025

This hotel is garbage This place is trash. No water for 4 hours today. Booked a reservation for a king size bed with a balcony 4 months ago to come and visit from boston. While checking in…was told they had no king size beds left…but would give us a room with 2 queen beds and she said they wouldn’t charge us for it?!?! As if we shouldn’t be comped or discounted for the inconvenience. We made RESERVations for a king size and got 2 full size (not queen) and not the king size we reserved months ago. Also. No fan in bathroom. AC in the room only blew warm air. I’d honestly rather stay in Boston and freeze my bag off than stay in this trash bag slum of a joke of a hotel.
