Three generations of family members have owned and operated Crider's on the Frio, a homey property in southern Texas. The family's cabins are nestled along the banks of the Frio River, and each can comfortably house large groups. Every cabin is different; all feature full kitchens, and some have fireplaces, dishwashers, and washers and dryers.

- Keep your eyes peeled for herds of spotted axis deer and other wildlife, which pass through the resort each evening.
- Horseback riding is available just half a mile away.
- Kayaks and tubes are available for rent on the Frio River from Happy Hollow, located less than a half mile from the property.
Rio Frio, Texas: River Activities, Scenic Hiking, and Bird Watching
The Frio River was so named because of its cool, clear waters fed by icy underground springs ("frio" translates to "cold" in Spanish). The Frio flows through southern Texas, from Kent down to Three Rivers, where it merges with the Atascosa and Nueces Rivers. Limestone bluffs and bald cypress trees line the shallow banks.
Situated along the river is Garner State Park, where visitors can cruise on inner tubes, kayaks, or paddleboats or hike along 11 miles of elevated trails with scenic overlooks. Equipment is available for rent.
Farther north of Rio Frio, Lost Maples State Natural Area draws leaf peepers in fall when its majestic maple trees turn to gold. But there's plenty to see at this park year-round.
