Myrtle Beach, South Carolina: Sandy Beaches, Golf Courses, and Classic Amusement-Park Rides

Myrtle Beach is the crown jewel of South Carolina's Grand Strand, a 60-mile stretch of white-sand beaches along the Atlantic seaboard that draws surfers, fishers, and kayakers. The city was named one of the best vacation spots in the United States for a family by USA Today, in part because of its wooden boardwalk, which stretches for more than a mile. Hop into the SkyWheel Ferris wheel’s gondolas, surrounded by more than a million LED lights, for a panoramic view of the city below.

Less than 20 miles south of Myrtle Beach, the tiny fishing village of Murrells Inlet provides a tranquil contrast to the boardwalk's hustle and bustle. At Brookgreen Gardens, more than 2,000 sculptures stand amid sprawling floral gardens and massive, moss-covered oak trees that have been around for centuries. Murrells Inlet is also home to the Tom Fazio–designed TPC Myrtle Beach golf course, 1 of nearly 80 courses in the area that helped Myrtle Beach earn its title as the seaside golf capital of the world.

Spring Break 2025 - A Mixed Review I am torn with writing this review. There were definitely some good parts and some not-so-good parts. Check in: check in is located across the street from the resort at the convention center. It took about 20 minutes to check in. After you pay, you go to another desk to get your wristbands. Here they also try to sell you a timeshare presentation and in return you get a free stay, $ for food, a cabana and more. It wasn't too pushy but annoying after a long car ride. First Impression: The resort is massive. There are 3 towers with the first 3 floors attached. We asked for a high room and were given the 10th floor of tower 1. The Room: The room is exactly like the pictures. Walk into a kitchen on one side, bathroom on the other, 2 beds, and a nice size balcony. The kitchen had new-ish appliances. The bathroom had a "bath fitters" cover over the bathtub and a new sink. The beds were comfortable. My only gripe was that the floor was dirty. There were caps of containers found by the floor, and a basketball found under the bathroom sink. The floor had crumbs and dirt on it- our feet were black the first day. There was a broom so we were able to clean things ourselves. The balcony door also was black and needed new caulk. The whole room could have used some paint as well. Kitchen: The appliances were replaced recently. There was a stove/oven, microwave, toaster, and refrigerator/freezer combo. There were plenty of dishes and cups to use, as well as some baking dishes. What was noticeably absent were paper towels and a sponge. It's odd that they provided dish soap but no brush or sponge to use it with. Customer Service/Housekeeping: I called the main desk (across the street) to complain about the floor, and was told that someone would be up the next day to clean it. The following day, I saw a "supervisor" of housekeeping who said that they cannot enter any room. It's still a "covid" style of housekeeping. She did swap out the towels and take the garbage. Out of 4 nights they only did this once. It's very annoying since online it says that housekeeping services the room daily. The pools: The pools, hot tubs, and lazy river were great. Every water feature was heated. Everyone we were with had a great time. There were some walkways which could use repair (stones missing). The slides were fun as well, however the stairs to get to them was full of stagnant water and broken concrete. Maybe when it's warmer outside the heat dries up the puddles, but for our trip some of the stairs and landings were wet and slimey. Staffing: Since it was spring break, the resort should have had more staffing. We were there Sunday through Thursday. There was security noticeable every day, but the other staff just seemed exhausted. Housekeeping told me it was the busiest it's been since last summer and they aren't prepared. It wasn't until Wednesday of spring break week that there were extra amenities available including the Tiki Bar and an Italian Ice stand. Food: There is only one place available to eat on site: Loco Gecko. The food was excellent. The issue was there was only one server and one bartender, so getting food to stay or go took forever.

Food was good, service was better Breakfast at the Loco Gecko was great, the service from Sophia madr the experience. Her personal and professional attitude made the dinning experience memorable and made me want to come back. Going back tomorrow and asking to sit with Sophia.

Here for a good time Check in was the only issue if I would even say that, just really slow and they were really busy.. everything you need right here in one resort. Rooms slept good and they were clean. Oceanview room and kitchenette a plus.Perfect for this weekend spring break trip. The kids absolutely had a blast.
