Resort at a Glance: Crystal Lodge

Crystal Lodge in Whistler has been engineered around the area's natural attractions, from the snowy ski hills to off-road bike trails. In the summer months, biking enthusiasts that hit the Whistler trails can make sure wheels, frames, and brakes are ready for the next run thanks to the lodge's tune-up area, bike valet, and bike-wash station. After slaloming down the nearby nearby Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains, skiers can stow their gear at the hotel's ski valet (before hitting the slopes again the next day). And once they drop off their boards and boots, skiers and snowboarders can warm up with a dip in the lodge's outdoor pool and hot tub.

  • Put your feet up after a day of outdoor fun in one of the hotel's redesigned rooms, and relax in the bed across from a flat-screen TV that keeps lounge sessions entertaining.
  • Hop aboard one of Whistler Blackcomb's gondolas just steps from the Crystal Lodge for a sightseeing trip up the mountain before skiing or snowboarding back down.
  • Tropical vibes: Guests can warm up in the lodge's sauna, or the outdoor pool and hot tub—no matter the season, guests can stay warm as they gaze up at the stars.
  • Shop around without leaving the Lodge at retail stops like Roots, Lululemon, Beacon Pub & Eatery, and CanSki.
  • Explore Whistler Village: Whistler's bustling downtown carries an authentic chalet vibe, with a mix of local and renowned businesses and restaurants.

Whistler, British Columbia: Mountain Biking and Golfing at North America’s Largest Ski Resort

The Whistler Blackcomb ski resort spans two mountains, each more than 7,000 feet high and connected via the Peak 2 Peak Gondola. Since the resort contains more than 200 ski trails and more skiable terrain than any of its North American equivalents, it makes sense that Condé Nast Traveler readers ranked it the No. 3 North American ski resort in a 2016 poll.

In the summer, Whistler Blackcomb transforms from ski resort to bike park, with 50 miles (80 km) of lift-serviced mountain-biking trails. The warmer temperatures also allow for hiking along 19 scenic trails, including the Overlord Trail, which meanders past fields of wildflowers and glacier-fed alpine lakes. Animal lovers can take guided tours that focus on local wildlife, including black bears and whistling marmots. And three of golf’s biggest names have chosen the Whistler area for their courses: choose from Arnold Palmer’s Whistler Golf Club, Robert Trent Jones Jr.’s Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Club, and Jack Nicklaus’s Nicklaus North.

Lovely hotel in the heart of Whistler Village My wife and I recently stayed at the Crystal Lodge and loved it! First, you are located in the heart of Whistler Village. They have an elevator which has a stop that drops you off right at street level. From there you're a minutes walk away from restaurants, bars, shops, and everything that Whistler Village has to offer. Secondly, the hotel is just perfect for a weekend getaway with their spacious rooms, small kitchen areas, and comfortable bathrooms. Finally, the staff is very attentive and can help you out with any need you may have. The only negative is that if you're on the side facing the street, you're going to get some noise when the bars close and people head home. The Crystal Lodge does leave some earplugs in your room to help, which is a nice gesture. Personally, if I were to stay again, I'd put up with the noise at night to have the view during the day.

Good Location, EV Charging Too! Really accessible location, with EV parking stalls available (parking is first come first serve). I initally checked in around 12pm noon, and got a parking pass, but my official check-in time wasn't until 4pm. I received a text message at about 1pm that my room was ready early, which was great. Pool and hot tub are outdoors, and there's only beach towels by the pool - bring your own robe, wear sandals and bring mininmal belonging because there's no lockers. Beds are quite soft, you sort of sink in. It was okay for me since it was only for 1 night, but I would probably get back pain if i stayed longer. Overall great stay!
