Within the jungles of the Dominican Republic's Samana province, a grove of trees has been transformed into a natural resort of open air cabins perched above the forest floor. A large eco-lodge crafted from local materials acts as the resort's hub, surrounded by 22 open-air treehouse cabins designed for rest, relaxation, and 360-degree panoramas of the surrounding jungle. The lodge itself hosts special events like weddings and yoga retreats, complete with a full bar and catering kitchen designed for family-style meals. Samaná, Dominican Republic: Picturesque Beaches and Waterfalls

The Samaná Peninsula juts out from the northeast coast of the Dominican Republic, soaking up the Caribbean Sea’s balmy subtropical temperatures. Its tucked-away, sugar-sand beaches are its biggest draw, followed by its exotic landscape: according to Frommer’s, it’s “as Casablanca as the Caribbean gets.”

El Salto del Limón waterfall is among Samaná’s most breathtaking natural features. You can ride horseback through the surrounding forests to get to the falls, which tumble over 165 feet of rocks and tropical vegetation. On the Dominican Republic’s mainland, Los Haitises National Park is home to mangrove forests and limestone crags that peek out of the water.

This was the most amazing experience I've ever had. It didn't just feel like we were in the jungle, we actually WERE in the jungle. The first night here it rained and it was literally the best sleep I have EVER had. The beds are super comfortable too and although the jungle is known to be humid (and it is) you don't feel the humidity at all because of the light constant breeze. If there was one improvement I could suggest it would be that they heat the pool! It is open 24 hours but it is so cold at night to swim in it, which was a little disappointing for me. It didn't take much away from the fact that the stay was incredible and the area itself too. We rode bikes down to the beach and it was nice seeing the village on the way. The beach is super clean too and since it's a small village it wasn't crowded at all. A true paradise. I would definitely go back if I could! And I completely recommend investing in this vacation. I still can't believe this was a Groupon.

Disappointing Stay, Hotel needs a full renovation We were very disappointed in our stay at Treehouse Village. We had been looking forward to it for a few months, but immediately got the impression that most of the marketing on this is done by "Influencers" who are being comped or encouraged to stay at this hotel. We paid almost $500 a night and expect a certain standard, but were disappointed to have a leaking bathroom roof, rusty nails around our room that were unsafe for our children, a bonfire that was lit by a man pouring lighter fluid on it every 3 minutes, spilling out around the children there, and a pool that had algae growing in and literally had frogs in it. I understand that this hotel is in the middle of the jungle, and it's hard to maintain and get certain supplies. We also were aware that the showers were only cold water, so we expected certain things. But for the price we paid, I would have certainly expected that we would have sheets that weren't stained, pillows that felt like a bowl of lumpy popcorn, a bathroom that wasn't leaking through the ceiling, and most importantly a safe environment for our children. Unfortunately, it appears that this hotel is overdue for a major renovation - multiple treehouses were closed for leaking, you can tell things have not been updated or maintained properly. This would be a fun place if it is was renovated or if the price represented what it is, but it is certainly not worth the price we paid and should be understood by others that this is very rustic and more of a "camping" experience than anything else. In terms of food, breakfast and dinners are provided on site - lunch is provided at 2 offsite locations. Both meals were simple and adequate buffets. An appetizer time is advertised at 5:30 each day and soup at 6pm, but that only took place one day - the second day there was only "soup time" at 5:30, no appetizers. When we asked one day if there was anything we could snack on mid day instead of having to go out to lunch (the offsite lunches take a few hours and we didn't want to do that) we were told no - unfortunately there are no peanuts or popcorn or anything offered to guests between breakfast and dinner. In addition, the "lodge activities" did not really exist while we were there. There was a dangerous bonfire each night, but there was no yoga, game time, karaoke, etc. There was giant jenga and dominoes in the lodge, but that was the only game in the lodge. Otherwise guests brought their own games down. It appears a lot of things that used to exist don't really anymore. The "spa" that is advertised is actually just a little treehouse on a very busy sidewalk - there is no privacy and they offer massages only as they can find staff to do them. In addition, we did the ziplines, which our children loved but we were nervous due to safety precautions. Our helmets were not fitted correctly and had cracks in them, and our carabiners did not close properly - we were told not to worry, we wouldn't fall out. The "Influencer" who was on our tour got a nice scooter ride up to the top (we didn't mind the hike, but still) and a private staff who filmed them to post on their Instagram page. Unfortunately, this stay was the most disappointing we've had in awhile. We had such high expectations, and unfortunately left very disappointed.

Once-in-a-lifetime Family Getaway This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience to share with your kids! Epic, inspiring, adventurous, unique & absolutely unforgettable. If you are “thinking” about it, don’t waste another moment. _It’s impossible to regret this stay! It’s peaceful, mosquitos are none existent, never saw a spider either & snakes are rare. Nothing venomous, toxic or dangerous in this jungle. Just lots of birds, butterflies, snails, geckos, and tree frogs.
