Downtown Pittsburgh: History and Culture in the Golden Triangle

Downtown Pittsburgh sits at the confluence of the Monongahela and Allegheny Rivers. Known as the Golden Triangle, this wedge of waterfront real estate is where the city’s cultural, financial, and historic districts converge. Take a stroll through the area or navigate the more than 20 miles of bike trails to discover art galleries, historic buildings, and shiny skyscrapers home to corporate powerhouses such as United States Steel and PNC bank.

For a quick survey of the Steel City’s nearly 260-year history, you can go on a walking tour from the Pittsburgh History & Landmarks Foundation. A short cab ride brings you to the city’s Oakland neighborhood, where you’ll find art and history museums as well as the Phipps Conservatory. This elaborate, Victorian-style greenhouse showcases 17 botanical gardens, both in the steel-and-glass structure and on the grounds surrounding it.

Hotel does not add up to a four star double tree hotel. This hotel is outdated. Elevator is old and was shaking on the way up. Interior of hotel and rooms are old and country. Thermostat looked like a old phone. Bathtub had brown spots and the shower head back is coming loose. The ceiling has brown spots.

Don't use traveluro ever!! TRAVELURO IS THE WORST. DONT EVER DO A BOOKING WITH THEM. THE HOTEL GAVE ME A REFUND FOR AN ISSUE I HAD. GAVE THE REFUND BACK TO TRAVELURO AND NOW TRAVELURO HASNT ANSWERED EMAILS, NO REFUND AND PHONE CALLS CLICK YOU OFF. ITS ALMOST LIKE THEY HAVE YOUR PHONE NUMBER FLAGGED FOR COMPLAINTS. IF I CALL FROM A NUMBER I NEVER USED I GET THROUGH. THEN WHEN YOU GET THROUGH TO TRAVELURO, THEY SAY WELL ANSWER YOU THROUGH EMAIL ONCE INVESTIGATION IS DONE. I AM CONTACTING VISA DIRECTLY NOT ONLY TO GET THIS REMOVED BUT DOUBLETREE, VISA AND ANY OTHER HOTEL SHOULD NOT ALLOW THEM AS A 3RD PARTY BOOKER.

Outdated and dumpy This hotel was outdated 10 years ago. I travel 40 weeks a year and haven't stayed at a Double Tree this bad. I am surprised given many positive experiences at this brand. I would not stay at this location again. The carpet is frayed, walls are patched, lamp shade is torn, etc.
