Philadelphia’s Center City: Historic Landmarks and Museums

The historic Center City neighborhood, also known as downtown Philadelphia, dates back to the city’s founding in 1682. Today, Center City is Philadelphia’s central business district, with several skyscrapers and high-profile museums. The neighborhood is also home to Independence National Historical Park, whose high concentration of notable landmarks makes it America’s most historic square mile. While you’re here, visit Independence Hall—birthplace of the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution—or head to the Liberty Bell Center to see the approximately 2,000-pound bell.

The shops of Historic Antique Row are less than a mile from here. The small, locally owned shops stock everything from oriental rugs to vintage clothing. Head about 15 minutes northwest to scale the famous steps outside the Philadelphia Museum of Art, where Rocky Balboa once pumped his fists victoriously. Inside, the massive museum’s holdings range from ancient Chinese art to famous paintings by Claude Monet, Salvador Dalí, and Vincent van Gogh.

Don’t stay here! This hotel is terrible! My son and I had to leave and stay elsewhere. There was dried vomit on the wall of the bathroom, I don’t think the rooms or the common areas are ever vacuumed. Sheets were stained, and there was no box spring cover. We were there for a sports tournament and another person traveling with us had a cockroach in their room. The employees seemed unfazed by it all. It wasn’t just our group, there was a man complaining and leaving the hotel due to the conditions when we were checking in. There are better options near by!

Avoid, getting worse and worse I stayed this hotel before but shocked how it is getting worse and worse. First room had a broken AC, no breakfast even if you are a Hilton Diamond Member, they don’t care about loyalty .. Clinex etc was running out in the room, takes a while to get extra towel. Kids running and yelling on the floor at the weekends. It used to be a coffee in the lobby at the morning. That is gone too. But the worst is the attitude of the front desk agent. Rude and charged my card again for full night even I prepayed. She didn’t even stay sorry. Avoid this, there are much better hotels for this expensive rare.

Great service Checking in was breeze with Tyrone! He was great checking us in. Told us the ends and out of the hotel. Even encouraged us to participate in the judging of the gingerbread house competition that they had going on. Tyrone is a great asset to the hotel. Also at the bar Mr. Anthony was great with this service. He is also a great asset to the hotel.
