Daytona Beach, Florida: Racing Legacy and a Famed Lighthouse

Hundreds of thousands of racing fans visit Daytona International Speedway each year to watch world-class champions such as Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Jeff Gordon. Stock-car, sports-car, and motorcycle events round out the calendar all year, highlighted by the Daytona 500 in February—the first race of the Sprint Cup Series and typically regarded as the most prestigious. On various behind-the-scenes tours, you can explore the speedway's elevated press boxes, banked infield turns, and decadent hot tubs filled with motor oil.

At Daytona Beach itself, cars toting beach gear roll across the hard-packed sand through oceanfront driving zones; there are also traffic-free areas. South of town, you can see the Ponce de León Inlet Lighthouse. There, a spiral staircase winds up to the top of a 175-foot tower, where you can overlook a 52-acre park filled with armadillos, shore birds, and native wildflowers.

On the Beach stay at an affordable price. The hotel is right on the beach and see the beach from our balcony. Everyone we spoke to was very nice and professional and let you know about the dolphins in the ocean for morning time. We had a family of 7 this time. And it accommodated everyone with comfortable. The pool was nice and warm (I believe it was heated) they had a cute little kiddie pool that my granddaughters really enjoyed. We had an efficiency room that had two beds and 2 pull out sofas. It was nice and clean. It did provide a few plates and bowls and utensils. It also had a full size stove and refrigerator. It has a Win Dixie right across the street if you wasn’t to stock up and save money. The continental breakfast is juices, milk, cereals, pastries and yogurt. Overall this is a good place to stay if you want to stay at the beach and not pay a huge price tag. It has some things that need to be fixed but that being said they are under a bit of construction due to the hurricane that came through last year. I will say that overall to be on the beach and for the price tag, I thought it was a good price and a nice stay. They offer free parking for your stay. They did allow me to have my service dog with no issues. My CC deposit was $50.00 and we did pay in advance. The only reason I gave this place a 4 was the beds were very hard and I couldn’t get comfortable , but that could just be me. It is close to the entertainment center, boardwalk, and restaurants. And everything is within 3 miles so it is conveniently located.

Good stay The hotel is older, but its location is right on the beach. For a hotel, we were surprised to find an almost full sized refrigerator, stove, some pots and pans, and tableware/silverware. There is a continal breakfast. Virginia keeps the place clean and stocked. She has a sweet disposition and is a wonderful asset to this establishment. It would be better if there were some protein items like meat and eggs.
