Galveston, Texas: Exotic Animals, Water Parks, and Victorian Mansions on the Gulf of Mexico

Galveston occupies a barrier island roughly a half-hour drive from Houston. Its gulf beaches are bathed in sunlight more than 200 days of the year. Though Galveston’s climate is almost tropical, penguins waddle into chilly waters at the city’s most famous attraction, Moody Gardens. Nearby, saki monkeys roam a rainforest habitat, stingrays glide through a 1.5-million-gallon aquarium, and snow falls on moviegoers’ noses in a 4D theater.

Step back in time with a visit to downtown Galveston’s Strand Historic District. Here, classic cars and horse-drawn carriages roll down streets lined with old-fashioned street lamps and elaborate Victorian mansions. These brick behemoths now house art galleries, antique stores, and shops selling homemade ice cream and handcrafted jewelry.

The manager allowed me to pay the fee to have my dogs stay the night. I was so worried I would have to cancel my trip but instead they went above and beyond with customer service. Brought fresh towels, and great service.

Air conditioner Our air conditioner leaked all over the floor, the carpet was soaking wet and the walls were swelling & we had to change rooms ..they new thier was s problem but put us in the room anyways until I complained , I recommended this place to my other families because I’ve stayed here before and never had one problem . They could not keep up with the demand of the food at the continental breakfast, I felt really sorry for the employees, it’s not thier fault , just seemed like poor management, I’m Not the one to fuss but I felt like this place has gone down since my last stay, but I will say thier was no bugs, the room was clean, the AC was cold and the bed was super comfty as well as the pillows. I think it’s not right that they charge you $15 a nightly fee to park when you are staying thier… like get the license plate number when you check snd make guest hang a tag in your car … me and my family will not be back and I hate this because it’s so convenient to everything …The floors need to be replaced on elevators as well before someone trips & falls ..

Black Mold Hotel of Galveston Worst hotel ever!! Black mold on the ceiling and walls. Front desk was not concerned at all. No air conditioning in lobby. They were using industrial fans. Almost 2 weeks and still haven't received the credit as promised. And hot continental breakfast is only when they want.
