Idyllic North Conway was established in the foothills of the White Mountains in 1765. It’s home to the region’s highest peak, Mount Washington, which tops out at 6,288 feet. Worst experience groupon took my money and hotel said they never got reservations been waiting 4 days for my "escalated" case to be reviewed. I've gotten no call and still haven't gotten a dime back. The hotel even tried to yell groupon that they had no rooms!

I slept in my car after groupon took my money and didn't want to help when the hotel said they never got reservations. Carina G is worst car RUDE AND REFUSED TO CALL HOTEL WHEN THE HOTEL ASKED SAID ITS GROUPONS POLICY TO NOT CALL

Clean and functional hotel in great location This hotel was in a good location and we payed a very reasonable rate for one night which was hard to find in North Conway . Room was clean but tired as was bathroom and the air conditioning was really noisy , we were at the front so also had a lot of road noise . A coffee machine would be helpful

Lovely rooms...no housekeeping...get your own towels While the Golden Gables Inn continues to have some of the loveliest rooms in the Mount Washington Valley area, and their location is second to none for convenience, there was an issue with our stay this time that I have to mention. On day 2 of our visit, after being gone all day, we returned to find the dirty, wet towels still on the bathroom floor. I went down to the office, told the clerk who never said anything but got a set of clean towels for me. On day 3, same thing..except by now, there were two days of wet, dirty towels on the bathroom floor, in intense heat and humidity. Back to the office..same clerk...same routine. She never said anything, just got the clean towels. Later on that evening, sent an email to the Inn, hoping for a response. The response was 'due to lack of staffing...there would be no daily housekeeping. No garbage pick up, no clean towels delivered' If you wanted your dirty towels picked up, or your garbage picked up...dump it all outside your room, give us a call and we will pick it up. But you have to go to the front office to get your clean towels. In the email it said there was a notice on their front desk telling customers of this. When you check into a hotel/motel/inn, you are busy trying to find your credit card, your confirmation number, and listen to the phone ringing, and where your room is. The counter was covered in brochures for the area, dried flower arrangements and something requiring a QR code to scan. I did not see the notice until the morning we checked out. A notice on your website and on your confirmation/booking slip would be nice.

Beware of this hotel!!!!! Beware of this hotel!!!!! Golden Gables Inn is indeed beautiful, but for those who value their money, stay away! When we checked into the hotel, on September 26, 2023, we were told by the receptionist that our credit card did not go through and she asked us for another card. We granted her request, but on every credit card she tried, she claimed that the transaction was refused. We ended up trying several credit cards until she realized her mistake and the charge went through. After a few days, we realized that we were charged 8 times(!!!) for those 2 nights - over $2,000 instead of $262!!! We also verified with the credit card companies, who confirmed that we were indeed charged 8 times, and that the money reached the hotel. We have been trying to get our money back for over a month, but the hotel refuses to reverse the charges or take responsibility for the resulting banking fees. When we call, they just hang up on us. Don't risk your wallet. Find another hotel.
