Hotel at a Glance: Golden Gate Hotel & Casino

The Golden Gate has been welcoming guests to Las Vegas since 1906, long before the city was known for glitzy casinos and shows. Guests can view artifacts from the hotel's history in the lobby, part of a modern expansion that also added a luxury tower and more space to the gaming floor.

  • Place your bets at roulette and blackjack tables with dancing dealers, or play the slots.
  • Where you'll stay: Recently renovated guest rooms and suites feature flat-screen high-definition TVs, plush Serta pillow-top mattresses, and Bath & Body Works toiletries.
  • Grab a drink at Bar Prohibition or OneBar, where dancing bartenders keep the party going.
  • Take in history in the hotel lobby, where historical artifacts including old hotel ledgers and a 1907 Kellogg telephone—Las Vegas's first—are on display.

Beyond the Las Vegas Strip: Old Vegas and Red Rock Canyon

It can feel like the entire city of Las Vegas revolves around the Strip if you never venture beyond that neon-lit corridor. But there’s plenty to see and do once you step off Las Vegas Boulevard. You can find a taste of Old Vegas on Fremont Street, where vintage signs and showgirls crowned with headdresses recall the days of Sinatra and Martin. Beginning at dusk, a canopy of more than 12 million LED lights erupts in a psychedelic light-and-music show every hour. For an aerial view, zoom down the center of Fremont Street on a zipline.

Nature puts on its own show at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, a landscape of fiery-red sandstone formations and limestone cliffs just 17 miles outside the city. Motor down the 13-mile scenic drive or ditch the car and strike out on any of more than 20 hiking trails that course through the region’s otherworldly topography.

SO VERY DISAPPOINTED Ok. So here is the deal. ... we have been patrons for quite some time in Las Vegas and The D resorts..and really make it a point to gamble at the Golen Gate. Unfortunately this evening our perception totally changed... YES. We were drinking.. after all you are in Vegas... and my hubby did spill a little beer on the table. I have seen much worse. UNTIL we had someone hit big at the table all was good. Once the other patron hit "big" (total perception) it went downhill from there. Everyone was having a good time. Shayn the pit boss made a HUGE deal of my husband spilling his beer on the table ( I am sure it is on tape). I totally understand you protecting your job BUT.. at the end of the day I have been in administrative rolls for a very long time... you do not treat your patrons that way.. shame on you Golen Gate and Shayn. Does this put a black mark on me/us.. probably.. however.. I tend to call a spade a spade.. My= Our tiny review is probably miniscule compare to other higher patrons, but I will speak my voice... as a side note. . BRANDON... you were great and did nothing wrong!!! I cannot tell you how disappointed I am with this outcome and it may change where and how we spend our time in the future in Las Vegas. Take it for what it is worth!!!

Damaged my car No integrity. The valet crashed my car and denied responsibility. Gave my car to valet dec 31st at 5pm and got my car back with a big long dent at 10am Jan 1st. They said they would pay after I made a claim but then said they didn't do it. It was obvious they did the damage. The card they checked off showed no damage when I gave it to valet but they give it back to me less than 24 hours later with a big dent. Newer mercedes had no damage when I gave it to them

Outdated, old noisy hotel on the strip Don't choose this hotel whatsover, especially the cheap options when you are booking the hotel Firstly the Self-parking is very far so you will have to carry your luggage very far. It is a small hotel and very old. Rooms are very outdated and right on the Fremont strip. Firstly about the room, very small, smelly, bathroom door would not even open, look at the photos. The bathroom has old tiles and very small space to move around. Room is on the Fremont strip and huge loud noise till 2 AM and then after for the entire night there will be huge speakers blasting all the time. The windows are old and not sound proof and also vibrate a lot. We asked the receptionist but no help there and no refunds. We tried sleeping but was a nightmare as could not sleep the entire night and woke up with a huge headache. Please take a look at the photos and decide for yourself, dirty, noise, small and outdated
