Ocean City, Maryland: Family-Friendly Boardwalk next to the Atlantic

Along Ocean City’s century-old boardwalk, you can savor wild-caught blue crab, play old-fashioned arcade games, and watch candy makers spin colorful saltwater taffy. The lively boardwalk, which stretches for 3 miles along Maryland’s eastern shore, helped earn Ocean City a spot on USA Today’s list of the "10 great places to have some fun on a boardwalk." Kids can ride a Ferris wheel and climb aboard one of the country’s oldest carousels at Trimper’s Amusement Park, a family-owned theme park open for more than 100 years.

Assateague Island National Seashore—a 37-mile stretch of salt marshes running from Ocean City down to Virginia—offers a peaceful reprieve from the boardwalk’s constant activity. The island’s famous wild horses gallop on the shores, and you can climb up a vintage, candy-striped lighthouse, or hike the seaside forests to spot birds, including great horned owls, ruby-crowned kinglets, and great blue herons.

Family mini vacation All I’m going to say is that me and my family will definitely be back again. Let me thank Kelsey the manager for all her help and making our stay amazing. She helped me with my booking issues days before the trip and once arriving we were offered a room upgrade and early check in which I truly appreciated after our long drive from Long Island, NY. The room was amazing, staff were very polite and helpful, the broad walk was safe and very easy to get to since it was right outside the hotel, the game room and indoor pool were perfect for all ages and parking was always available. If you are looking for something that is perfect, affordable and safe for a family or even couple this is it

bed bugs ! Rude staff. This place is a dump. Very dirty, bug jumped on my arm in the elevator, didn't know it then, but now know it was a bed bug ! What a mess it caused. Very expensive to have removed. Thing is, we didn't read the reviews before we booked, we would have seen what a dump it is. If you HAVE to stay here, put your luggage in the bathtub to keep it safe. Otherwise, be prepared for them to invade your house. They did nothing while we were there to get us out of the room AFTER we complained. This is the worst hotel in Ocean City, with the worst staff, also. We were made fun of by the hotel staff. Not going to happen again. Would NEVER recommend this dump, and sure would never stay here again.

A "Grand" Experience. Our stay at the Grand Hotel was a grand experience! The room was beautiful, view spectacular, beds comfortable with better than usual bedding, cleanliness and maintenance without fault. Highly recommend. Even though it is not a new hotel it is beautifully maintained and has an older elegance which I find more pleasing than some of the newer places.
