Hotel at a Glance: Grotto Bay Beach Resort & Spa

At Grotto Bay Beach Resort & Spa, you can swim through the subterranean caves from which it takes its name. They're located along the shore, where the hotel's private pink-sand beaches give way to a lush tropical forest preserve. Go snorkeling, paddleboarding, and kayaking in the warm, clear waters; experienced sailors can set sail on rental sailboats and windsurfing boards (seasonal).

  • The Hibiscus Room—one of three onsite restaurants—plates gourmet dishes such as Guinness-braised lamb shank and pan-seared lemon and Thai curry red snapper.
  • Take a dip in the pool and lounge in the outdoor hot tub, located in a garden above the beach.
  • Recently renovated rooms have contemporary island decor and views of the turquoise sea from the patios. They're located in small, colorful cottages not far from the beach.
  • Get pampered at the onsite Natura Cave Spa. Built inside a cave, this spa offers treatments such as a hot-stone massage, anti-aging facial, or body scrub (additional charges apply).

Bailey's Bay, Bermuda: Peaceful Parish Close to Historic Towns and Capital City

Removed from the frenetic pace of central Bermuda, Bailey's Bay has a secluded feel and spectacular natural attractions. The town flirts with the Bermuda coast, where you can kayak above coral reefs and wrecked ships. Dive shops equip certified and non-certified explorers for tank dives and snorkeling trips, where divers observe Bermuda's exotic marine life.

A short bus ride north will get you to the 400-year-old town of St. George, which showcases Bermuda's history in well-kept buildings, monuments, and forts dating back to 1612. Shoppers can stroll along colonial streets to browse the wares of craft vendors and watch costumed reenactments of historical incidents around the square's replica stocks and pillory. About a block away, Saint Peter's Church—one of the oldest Anglican churches in the Western Hemisphere—touts tombstones and ancient architecture.

I had a double bed room facing he water it was amazing to wake up to such a view. The location is close to sites and the airport. The front desk was very accommodating. The bar tender Duane was a pleasure he made me specialty drinks since I am not a big drinker. The food choices were delicious and the breakfast I truly enjoyed.

Wonderful Getaway We really enjoyed a lot about this resort. Everyone was really friendly and helpful, which seems like the Bermudian way! Special thanks to Ebhone for going above and beyond and assisting with our many questions. The beach was very sandy with enough interesting things to look at while snorkeling around the rocks. Tons of fish. Cathedral cave was awesome. Water was refreshing and true unique experience (especially after visiting Crystal and Fantasy caves). Lots of little bonus features about the property. Such as the grottos, spa, cathedral cave, snorkeling location, close to Swizzle Inn and crystal and fantasy caves.

Great visit. Amazing value and staff So we have been to Bermuda many times. For years we stayed at The Reefs which we love but decided to try Grotto Bay mostly because it was all inclusive. Here are the pros and a few cons. Location Pros- great location. Less than 10 minutes from the airport but no airport news. It’s an hour to the Reefs and it was great to get there super quick after a long flight. Only 2 minutes to Hamilton by bus and closer to St George Cons-getting to Dockyard is a bit of a trek but we didn’t care. Beach Pros-beautiful bay. Very calm water. No waves which for a few minutes was disappointing until I realized I could sit in the ocean all day sipping pina coladas without being knocked down. Lots of beach chairs, big umbrellas and close to the pool restaurant and bar Cons- no waves for those who want them. Does not have the lush pink of the south shore. If you want think sand and waves Grotto Bay is not the place to be Staff Pros- the staff were uniformly amazing and solicitous. My husband was using a crutch and they picked us up for breakfast and dinner every day in a gold cart and got there within 5 minutes. My. Son is autistic and everyone, especially the dining staff were terrific Cons-None Food Pros-nice spread for breakfast. Jewel is an amazing omelette maker and always has a smile in his face. The poolside grill has great bar food-especially the hot dogs and hamburgers Cons- Dinner was up and down. Some was great some so so. A few things were overcooked the ribeye and duck despite being requested medium rare. The buffet nights were so so But we learned what to order. Not the quality of someplace like the Reefs but we didn’t expect that Entertainment—not great. The DJ one night was good but the rest-eh. On one of the buffet nights there was a band that for the longest time was playing preschool songs which was just weird. The entertainment should be for the adults. Family- Pros. If you have children they will love it. It is a best family friendly resort Cons- If you don’t have children and don’t v really want to need around children they can may not need the place to go. They were not ill behaved. Most B kids being kids but very lots on the beach which affected the ambiance. It is actually the only reason we probably as older couple would not return. Value. At $129 per person per day it was an amazing value. You get there meals a day. All the stocks you want including alcoholic, free bus and get tickets. Water accessories —rafts, snorkel equipment, paddle board, kayaks etc. you won’t find a better value anywhere in Bermuda Rooms. The rooms and bathroom were updated, modern and clean. So E people complained about size but we found them adequate. How much time do you spend in the room? Cats— Loved the cats and don’t understand why anyone would complains about them. If you don’t like them stay away! Although we had a few issues I rate it 5 stars because most of it was personal preference like the children and entertainment which others will think is good e.

Highly recommended. Huge thanks to Grotto Bay for an amazing family holiday! We had a brilliant time swimming and snorkelling just off the hotel beach, taking kayaks out to explore further afield, and a motorboat into Castle Harbour. Taking a dip in the beautiful cave was the perfect way to cool off, and a massage in the Spa was very relaxing. All of the staff were friendly, welcoming and made our stay really special. Special thanks to Miss Connie in the shop; my son said her teaching him a little about her job was his favourite bit of the holiday! Also to Raymond, Matthew, and Veronica as well as the many other staff who seemed to be there morning, noon, and night for the duration of our stay and were all lovely. Food and drinks with the all inclusive was all very tasty and it made day to day logistics very easy. The bus pass was a great way to explore the island.
