Key West, Florida: Dazzling Sunsets, Six-Toed Cats, and Cuban Culture
Located just off Florida's southernmost tip and north of Cuba, the island of Key West is undoubtedly the most famous of the Florida Keys. Frommer's calls it "the land of the eternal vacation." Most tourists come to Key West's gulf-side beaches to snorkel, surf, or fish, but no trip to Key West is complete without a visit to the Ernest Hemingway Home & Museum, where the author lived, worked, and kept his six-toed cats. More than 50 descendants of those famous felines still prowl the grounds of the museum to this day.
At nighttime, locals and visitors alike converge on the Mallory Square Dock to watch the sun dip below the Gulf of Mexico, casting swaths of deep orange and pink against the horizon. The spectacle is so breathtaking that it inspires a sunset celebration each night. The dock comes to life with traveling psychics, one-man bands, and food vendors serving fresh-squeezed lemonade and plantain chips.

Bait & Switch not 21 & over resort We booked in November after the resort switched to 21+ property, however when we arrived they had changed back to family without any notification to travelers even on checking. As someone who sought the peace and experience of an adult only property, that is not what we got at all. The Easter activities for adults was a nice touch and the property was beautiful. Our suite was really nice and spacious. The downside came with the resort allowing day trippers, families after selling it as 21 & over, and the staff wasn’t too friendly/service focused…they got the job done, but not with the level of service expected at this price point. I shouldn’t have to worry about some kid in the pool without adults in my eyesight or listen to staff confront people by the pool. For nearly 600/night it was not the luxury resort experience for adults only I expected and have received at other resorts for far less. The shampoo/conditioner/soap/lotion did not impress. The hot tub was far too small. Bar food was decent. They should have contacted each guest about the switch from a 21+ resort. We will not be back.

Amazing… so enjoyable I cannot say enough good things about this resort. We just had the best time here. The decor at this place is just adorable. I love that their logo is on everything. The location is perfect, we used the shuttle service multiple times. All the employees were kind and helpful. We especially loved Lana at the bar. She was just go go nonstop and was so sweet. She deserves some praise because she really gave it her all. We hugged her when we left _ The food at the Floridian was very good and so were the drinks at the bar. We enjoyed the pool with all the iguanas and the live music by the pool. Beds were comfortable and room was very clean and nice. We loved the bath products in the room, great scents. The foliage and plants around the resort are so pretty and there is art everywhere. When I come back to key west I will definitely book here. It made our stay fantastic!!

Lots of highlights with room for improvement This resort has a lot of highlights with some room for improvement.
The rooms are clean. There is a large pool on site and really good food options from both the food truck and the late night options at the flama cabana. The best service we received was at Floridita for breakfast. I wish I remembered the name of the woman who served us. My husband and I stayed 3 nights and had a very good time. The free shuttle service to downtown was key to us choosing this resort,
Some room for improvement… There really isn't pool side service such as the website boasts. If you order food at Floridita they will bring it to you, but no one is checking on you to see if you need a towel or a cocktail. In fact there are very few employees who will say anything at all to you unless you ask a question. no one gives you any kind of welcome or orientation of the resort at check in either.
The pool and hot tub area could be kept cleaner. The hot tub area was surrounded by poop and left over advil that someone had spilled the night before and it was already 3PM the next day. There is a large bar by the pool, but the drinks are weak at the bar so we spent quite a bit of money there, but just ended up with bellies full of sugar.
Overall this resort is a good option if you want an easy ride to and from the airport and to be away from the hustle and bustle of old town. I would consider staying again, but I'd like to see the service improve overall and cleaner grounds.
