Savannah, Georgia: Historical Mansions and a Lively River Walk

Founded in 1733 as Georgia's first town, Savannah is not only one of the most graceful cities in the South but also one the most historic. The old but well-preserved architecture landed it on Forbes’s 2011 list of America's Best Downtowns, and Travel + Leisure dubbed it one of the top cities in the United States and Canada in 2013. The city's 22 famous public squares play host to some famous landmarks, such as houses framed by moss-covered oak trees. Head to Oglethorpe Square to see the Owens-Thomas House, an English Regency–style mansion completed in 1819 that now serves as a museum; tours here depart from the original carriage house and go past its charming English-style parterre garden.

Another relic of Savannah's past, River Street curves for about a mile along Savannah River's south bank. The cobblestone walkways are lined with 100-year-old cotton warehouses that have been converted into antique shops, brewpubs, and galleries. A short walk west of River Street will take you to the City Market, a four-block public meeting space on the edge of downtown.

Disappointed. So sad to see how this hotel has gone downhill. This used to be my favorite hotel in Pooler. I frequently stay at a HGI while traveling especially for the food/bar area. When I arrived I was told the bar area closed at 9 pm for food or drinks. I am accustomed to the food/bar area closing at 10pm. Room smelled of pet urine. When I went to shower, there was a used bar of soap and hair in the soap holder. Bath towels also appeared to be slightly mussed and I never touched the bath towels. Went downstairs for breakfast next morning and waited for a breakfast attendant. After 15 minutes with no one there I served myself. The breakfast attendant finally showed after I finished eating just to give me a bill. Paid and tipped them, but why tip for someone who just hands you a bill and doesn't serve anything? Hotel and service is not what I would expect out of this brand, both as a Hilton Honors member and as a previous repeat guest at this same hotel. Not worth the money. Next time I will nearby at Embassy where the food/bar area is open till 10 pm and the service is impeccable.

Okay stay at garden inn The restaurant lady for supper was very pleasant . Food was okay. The breakfast lady seemed to be overworked or unorganized. It seemed pretty simple , either continental breakfast for $9.95, 16.95 for a bit more items or a made to order breakfast that in this case we paid ahead for. None of it was great. I would never pay for any break at a garden inn again. They don’t seem to be in the business for food service like they used to be. She seemed to not have control of the restaurant as everyone seemed to be looking g for her etc. All very vague how it worked so had to ask a lot of questions. She never welcomed us and explained anything. Maybe we are asking for too much but … The front desk lady was okay. Friendlier this morning when we were checking out. The lady on the desk last night was very friendly. The rooms are very very dark. They r clean but dated. We used to enjoy the garden inns but will now move into other hotels. We r diamond members and love the perks of the diamond status. This clerk didn’t seem to know about the $10 credit per person but I did get it on my receipt this morning at checkout. She had to read my app . All in all clean but dark in rooms.

Best staff in America Angela Agan the Mgr of the Savannah HG Airport, Elle and Cardi are an unbeatable team. During Milton, they found me a room when none existed. I could never describe how grateful and indebted to them I will forever be. Friendly, professional,

Great hotel as a substitute I had originally a reservation at the Drury hotel but they could not open yet so they called and said that the Hilton was giving the same rate so they rebooked me here. Clean and comfortable room. Breakfast buffet was included (probably because of the Drury deal). Otherwise it was $16.99. Nice selection and the eggs were delicious. You could also get other items like pancakes by ordering off the menu. Pool was clean and not too cold. Friendly front desk people. The only downside is I had to get new keys each day because of the way the reservation was made. But I did not have to change rooms which I was happy about.

Great Stay! Will be back Have stayed here multiples times over the past few months and appreciate it's consistency and privacy. Hotel is clean and stay is always happy / helpful. Typically busy, they serve a very nice paid breakfast and dinner when you don't want to leave. Hotel has a nice grab and go area for snacks and beverages. The hotel backs up to a small lake/pond, so pick a room on the back side for privacy. The gym is always clean and has a nice clean pool area too. Parking is easy and free. There is also a Sam Sneads grill within the Hotel cluster that is walk-able or a 1 minute drive that is consistently good for upscale/ Houston's Style food. Will stay again.
