Boston’s Charlestown: Historic Waterfront Neighborhood on the Freedom Trail

Located in Somerville, just .5 mile from Charlestown prides itself as being Boston’s oldest neighborhood. In fact, it was the first capital of the Massachusetts Bay Colony. You can experience a bit of the neighborhood’s colonial history along the 2.5-mile long Freedom Trail, which marches across the Charlestown Bridge to stop at two historic areas in this northerly neighborhood. The first is the USS Constitution, where Navy sailors run 30-minute guided tours of the 200-year-old ship’s spar deck, gun deck, and berth deck. The impressive vessel was nicknamed “Old Ironsides” after British cannonballs simply bounced off its hull during the War of 1812.

The northern terminus of the Freedom Trail, the Bunker Hill Monument, commemorates the Revolutionary War Battle of Bunker Hill with an obelisk reminiscent of the Washington Memorial. Follow the trail across the Charlestown Bridge (or hop on the MBTA orange line) to reach downtown Boston, where you can explore the Freedom Trail’s south end.

The stay was an excellent experience. It was a special one considering this was the weekend I introduced my boyfriend to my family and friends! We made my boyfriend's stay very special and the staff even helped me set-up in a conference room for my interview! Grateful for the staff for their kindness and hospitality. Will definitely come back.

Fire at the Holiday Inn Hotel. Stayed at this hotel on company business from February 3rd to 6th. The first few days were ok. However, on Thursday 6th, a fire broke out on the 9th floor, my Room 913. There was not warning, calls or even notifications of this fire from the hotel management. After smelling smoke, I opened my door and had to shut it back immediately because of the heavy black smoke in the hallway. I had to call the from desk to let them know I was trapped in my room. There were several fire trucks on the property so management knew there was a fire, yet did not warned us. It was the fire fighters was rescued me from my room. Very little was said to us by Management except that we had to leave. What a way to be treated.

Picture of my dog at the end Sean front desk ..Got my room for me.. He was good and matter of fact , simple and fast... I went out for dinner came back around midnight, another gentleman let me extend my check out from 10am to 1.p.m... this was the only problem but I still gave 5 stars.. house keeping came 3 times from 10.am to12...then a supervisor came after I put sign on handle... i was in shower and had to open door to hear her excuse that she didn't know....(your the supervisor lol) I am sure she would still give excuses now... i generally don't give reviews... but this is how to get a 5 star review with a negative part.... Sean gave discount that I refused... THE DISCOUNT TO ME SHOULD GO TO HIM.. 1 Negative review is worse than 100 good ones....I apologize for my spelling..Thanks again sean... I will be back at some point..thanks to you
