Miami Beach, Florida: White-Sand Beaches, Glamorous Nightlife, and Cuban Cuisine

Miami Beach is a small barrier island situated between the Atlantic Ocean and Biscayne Bay, a shallow lagoon that separates the beaches from downtown Miami. People from all over the world come here to enjoy the white-sand beaches, shop the high-end boutiques, and party at the legendary see-and-be-seen nightclubs the city is known for. The red-hot center of this sexy, international social scene is South Beach, a 20-block stretch filled with upscale lounges, rooftop bars, and ultrahip hangouts behind velvet ropes. Lummus Park beach is packed by mid-morning, and the clubs on Ocean Drive and Washington Avenue—many of which stay open until 5 a.m.—vie for the limelight with VIP service, celebrity DJs, and dressed-to-the-nines crowds.

Beyond the fast-paced luxury of South Beach lies Miami Beach’s softer side. A leisurely stroll through the Art Deco District reveals hundreds of beautiful, candy-colored buildings, including Versace Mansion—a 1930 manor modeled after a palace in the Dominican Republic that belonged to Christopher Columbus’s family. The centerpiece of the city’s arts scene, the Bass Museum of Art displays works from Peter Paul Rubens and Sandro Botticelli, and modern-design objects and propaganda arts fill three stories at the Wolfsonian-FIU museum. There’s also a handful of vibrant ethnic enclaves to explore here, and Little Havana is among the most notable. The neighborhood is lined with family-owned restaurants and Caribbean-style marketplaces, making it a great place to discover some of the country’s most delicious Cuban food, from sugary guarapo juice to pastelitos, or Cuban pastries.

Great Experience Great Value Newly married- we were looking for a mid-range hotel near the beach to celebrate our honeymoon in Miami. The hotel definitely did not disappoint. It was well equipped with a microwave along with kettles and such. We had 2 queen sized beds in our room (though we only used one ;) I mention this only to give an idea about how large the rooms were). The rooms were not decked in some luxurious manner- but really in a very friendly and efficient manner that worked for us pretty well. In the end we took back a very satisfying honeymoon back with us :) - part of it was Miami, part of it was the Hotel, part of it was the Beach, part of it was the other sightseeings that we did and part of it was us. The hotel is true value for money.

Great experience! We stayed with a 2 year old and had a great time, lovely staff, nice clean spacious rooms and very central located. The price is very reasonable, I would recommend it to anyone, even with small children

They never returned my $100 deposit Great hotel for the price. Great location. But they took a $100 deposit on my credit card and they never reimburse it. I called many times, the manager was never on duty, I sent many emails, got one email back saying that they will take care but they never did. So be careful.

great location, value for money Cute hotel in a great location. Rooms were nice and clean, nothing to be amazing by. Friendly and helpful staff. Lift is very small and a bit scary, I used the stairs haha. Overall happy with the stay and good value for money.

Great Location, Nice for a Hostel This hotel is centrally located on Collins which makes it a great place to be. I liked the parking the best, just a little underground garage below with about 12 spaces. It was the cheapest parking that we had seen on the strip. $25 per day. The room was big and had a safe and hairdryer, kichenette etc. They didn't have many towels which was an inconvenience but not horrible. Staff was nice and the little Taco place in the hotel is amazing. Man, I wish I had some of those tacos right now. ;) Great stay overall.
