Atlanta, Georgia: Urban Parks and Renowned Aquarium in Capital of the South

Named 1 of 50 Places of a Lifetime by National Geographic, Atlanta lies near the Chattahoochee River in Georgia's northwest region known for its famed trees: magnolias, pines, and dogwoods. Despite a metropolitan population of more than five million and what is considered the world's busiest airport by passenger count, Atlanta seems to always offer a relaxing escape. Stroll through the 185 acres of botanical gardens, hiking trails, and oaks at Piedmont Park, or study one of the country's largest Civil War exhibitions at the Atlanta History Center.

Anchored by historical Peachtree Street, the city's midtown area boasts a thriving arts-and-culture scene. Opened in 1929, the Fox Theatre features imposing Egyptian architecture and a custom-made organ with a network of 3,622 pipes. Tours take place on Monday, Thursday, and Saturday. The High Museum of Art spotlights more than 12,000 pieces of contemporary and folk art, ranging from Renaissance paintings to photographs from the civil-rights era. Kids might better enjoy the Georgia Aquarium, located downtown at Centennial Olympic Park. One of the world's largest aquariums with more than 8 million gallons of fresh and marine water and more than 100,000 animals, the aquarium is home to beluga whales, lionfish, whale sharks, bottlenose dolphins, and more.

Retro Historic Hotel I have wonderful memories of this part of Atlanta growing up in downtown Decatur, The Hotel Clermont was iconic even then for different reasons, but to have the opportunity to spend time here as an adult was wonderful. The uniquely curated decor, art, and setting just enhance my stay as I felt whisked away to time and places I have traveled all over the world. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly and even the Valet drivers were super engaging. The Hotel location is so close to so many wonderful neighborhoods, restaurants and bars. Ponce Market, Little 5 Points, Va, Highlands, Midtown, Decatur etc. Really enjoyed my stay as I walked around old neighborhoods that I remember earlier in my life. It can be a little noisy from the outside as real city life can be heard, but to me it is worth the experience!

Wet and damp room and super noisy on weekend nights, no restaurant for breakfast during week. We were so excited to be trying this hotel. It looked cute and fun and we were travelling for business but looking forward to having it as our bolthole. We arrived on a weekend after some long travel delays and climbed into bed and it felt damp. The sheets and bedding felt damp. So tired we slept a few hours before getting up for work and when we got back to the hotel had dinner at the Tiny Lou's (was fine) and crawled into the damp bed again for what we hoped would be a peaceful nights sleep. We were not aware that The Clermont Lounge operated underneath the hotel and the screaming and loud shouting and music from the bar/club kept us away from 11pm - 3am or so. Tired the next day we dragged ourselves off to work and returned to the damp room. By this time even all our clothes felt damp from the wet air blasting out of the aircon. You cannot open the windows in the rooms so you have to use the aircon. Monday morning rolled around and the restaurant in the hotel is not open mon - fridays for breakfast, only on weekends. No where to get a real coffee. Not the ideal hotel if you are travelling for business. It more suited to people coming to the club/lounge downstairs and people hosting parties etc. The actual hotel seems like an after thought. Suggestion would be to sort out the wet damp aircon situation and put nespresso pod coffee machines in the rooms and a mini barfridge would have been good as well.

Try the Clermont Great boutique hotel close to Little Five points and Ponce Market. The decor is worth the trip in itself. Very moody, eclectic vibe. We stayed in the Bunk Room which is great for a family. Two sets of sturdy bunks with comfortable bedding. Valet service is spot on.

Hotel Clermont knows Service Stayed here while scouting places to live as my daughter is moving to Atlanta. This hotel is the epitome of Southern hospitality and class. Chef Charmaine of Tiny Lou’s is a rockstar!

Wonderful If you are looking for an eclectic destination experience in a Designated Historic Building, look no further. The resturant (open weekends) is OUTSTANDING...oh the Brunch!! But! The Rooftop is an absolute must. They have an expansive bar with 180% view of non other than Ponce City Market, immediately below from there... I'm simply going to borrow from the great...."just do it".
