You can also visit the Palace of Fine Arts to get a feel for San Francisco’s earlier days of decadence. The waterside palace is a remnant of the 1915 world’s fair and features a façade of Greek and Roman-inspired columns and an interior rotunda bathed in natural light. You can see a lot by day, but the the best time to visit is after dark, when the palace’s lights cast a dramatic reflection on the water.
