South Lake Tahoe, California: Year-Round Haven for Outdoor Adventures and Late-Night Revelry

Lake Tahoe has no real off-season; people find ways to make use of its pristine water, beaches, and mountains all year long. In the summer, the lake's clear, freshwater surface—which straddles the California-Nevada border—is dotted with swimmers, boaters, and jet skiers. Several ski resorts typically stay open from November to April, and Emerald Bay State Park is accessible year-round. A moderately easy hike to the base of Lower Eagle Falls reveals breathtaking views of the waterfalls crashing down from above.

Spectators gather at night for South Lake Tahoe's events, which range from wine and food festivals to rock concerts and fireworks displays. A few miles northwest of South Lake Tahoe sits Stateline, Nevada, where a handful of casinos host high-stakes games of blackjack and solitaire.

You get what you pay for The place was very affordable, but the room needed basic touch-ups like paint on the walls and broken base boards repaired. Staff was friendly. The room smelled like wet dog or stinky feet, so we wished we would have brought air freshener. Cute store and excellent breakfast place in same parking lot was a plus!

You get what you pay for This is your basic ski bum motel. The building is in bad shape, the sidewalk is crumbling, there are holes in the Sheetrock and the grounds are a mess. That being said, the heat worked, the bathroom was clean enough, the hot water worked and the bed was OK. The location was great and plenty of parking. Not bad for the money.

Happy customer every time My stay at the hotel is always peaceful and quiet. Management is helpful and friendly. I would recommend anyone to stay here. __ Paul Z The hotel allows pets if you’re traveling with your dog or cat. The location is in between the Y and Stateline very close to the Lake. There is a bus _ stop directly in front of the hotel. Very convenient for getting around without having to drive. CVS is next to hotel for any items you might need quickly. Enjoy your stay … I always have.
