Downtown Boston: Revolution-Era Landmarks and Modern Skyscrapers

Downtown Boston is home to one of the country’s wackiest city layouts. Its colonial-village lanes converge, split, and take hairpin turns, creating a maze of cobblestone that, though frustrating for drivers, makes for a fun walking experience. If you’re visiting for the first time, the best way to navigate the area is to follow the 2.5-mile-long Freedom Trail, which takes you past 16 historical landmarks, including Paul Revere’s home, Old North Church (of “One if by land, two if by sea” fame), and Faneuil Hall. You can use Boston public transportation to explore the city if you tire of walking.

Since the area is also the city’s financial district, centuries-old fixtures share sidewalk space with modern 40-story office towers. You’ll find suit-clad professionals grabbing lunch on Washington Street, which is lined with street vendors and flower shops. Downtown is also where you’ll find several of the city’s quirkier neighborhoods, such as the Leather District. With its rustic warehouses, the neighborhood is the closest example of what the business center looked like in the 1800s.

It was just ok Pros: Location: The area where this hotel is located was pretty easy to find. It was right off the highway and the trolley was in walking distance (5-8 mins). However, there was a disruption in the trolley service over the weekend so we ended up taking the trolley>shuttle bus>train to go into the city and our commute was 45 mins to an hour one way. We ended up taking an uber back to the hotel. Rooms: The rooms were clean and nicely decorate and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast: My mother and I ordered breakfast from the restaurant. The food was pricey, but the food was absolutely delicious with big portions. So much so....I was able to make my breakfast platter into two meals. I think I ordered breakfast from the restaurant every day of my stay. However, the service was non existent when I went down stairs to pick my food up. Onsite Convenience Store: Coffee/Tea on the go and you are able to grab breakfast sandwiches and pastries. Staff: Great customer service. The staff was efficient, attentive and helpful. All of my questions were answered and I felt at ease. Cons: Bathrooms: Small bathrooms. Small toilets. The a la carte pricing grid. There seems to be a charge for everything. You want/need a microwave in the room? Charge You want/need a mini fridge in the room? another charge There weren't any microwaves nor mini-fridges in the room. These were an added per night expense. I believe the microwave was $35 - $40 a night and the fridge was a more expensive charge. Overall, the hotel was clean, well-kept and conveniently located. The rooms were quiet and the staff were extremely helpful. I would probably come back for a quick weekend stay, but that is about it.

Decent Stay Time for a Refresh This was a last minute booking when I decided I didn't want to fight the parking and traffic in Boston. The hotel is relatively accessible via Interstate 90 and 95. It does feel isolated on the site though there is transit within walking distance. The front desk staff was pleasant and the overall atmosphere is OK. It is clearly a redo of a Holiday Inn and the Indigo style rooms are starting to show their age (sagging lamps and tired carpet). The restaurant on site was stylish though pricey and the service for breakfast was pretty inattentive. On the whole, it was a decent value for what I paid. I wouldn't choose it on my next trip though.

Solid A really good choice in the Boston area. Parking is both free and for the most part covered. There is an excellent restaurant and bar downstairs. Exercise room is good. I didn't use the pool. Rooms are good sized with large televisions. I would definitely stay here again.

was nicer last year very friendly people. however. no coffee or cream two days in a row. heat in "Phitness" center was 84 degrees. asked them to fix it the next day it was 86. TVs in "phitness" center don't work.7 tvs, 8 remotes. none worked. Woman at front desk could not tell me anything within walking distance.there are plenty of stores 1 mile straight down grove street.took 1o minutes to get hot water (maybe because 7th floor?) convenient at it is at riverside green line stop.woman registered me for loyalty program but forgot so I had to do it again. Best employee was Cedric. Heat in rooms was wonky. blew cold air even as heating up

Over priced Room and hotel were very clean but the hotel wanted to charge for everything else. Way overpriced. no amenities in bathroom. Check in is 4:30 ! they wanted $50 to check in early and then $ to use pool. Chairs at pool had reserved signs on them at 7pm at night and the pool closes at 8pm. My credit card was actual charged $50 in case I used services. Usually the card is just on file.
