Napa, California: Sprawling Vineyards and Farm-to-Table Dining

Located about a one-hour drive north of San Francisco, Napa Valley—a region that runs from Napa in the south to Calistoga in the north—is California’s capital of all things grape. The valley’s rolling hills are dotted with more than 400 family-owned vineyards, where oak barrels age vintage nectars and visitors are invited to stop, taste, and sniff private-label wines. Vineyards range from St. Helena’s popular Quintessa estate, a 280-acre property specializing in cabernet sauvignon, to lesser-known wineries such as Heibel Ranch Vineyards, which you can tour on the back of a 1963 Jeep. Although some wineries welcome drop-by tastings, your best bet is to make appointments ahead of time.

The valley’s culinary scene has also risen to prominence, with chefs such as Thomas Keller spearheading an haute cuisine movement. The charming main streets of Yountville and St. Helena are studded with gourmet restaurants praised for their sustainable practices and fresh, farm-to-table cuisine. If you’re tired of sipping wine all day, grab a wheat beer or a pale ale at one of the dozens of local breweries.

We enjoyed our stay, there was no wine because of Covid. But we had plenty from just visiting the wineries nearby. Everything very nice comfortable and the staff was accommodating. We would stay again and I would recommend it to anyone.

The room was spacious and included updated amenities i.e. new mattress. The gym was nice and clean with newer machines. The pool was nicely heated and comfortable enough to enjoy a late night swim, only downside was the hot tub because it wasn't functioning properly. We'll definitely visit again.

Worst Hotel w/ Terrible Customer Service - Don't Book Strongly would not recommend staying here. We booked a room block for our wedding but multiple guests had issues. The best part is that the manager contacted me & gave me his email so that I could send him proof of reservation for one of our guests as well as other issues that our guests had. It's been a month & I've received NO RESPONSE despite multiple guests having multiple issues over the span of just 2 days at the hotel. ISSUES - One party had a reservation that began on Friday but were told that their reservation didn't start until Saturday. The room block dashboard I was provided clearly showed that their reservation had been correctly booked for Friday though & hadn't been modified for months. When I called the manager, he conveniently said the reservation couldn't be found. I then asked for his email so I could send him a screenshot of the dashboard - haven't received a response at all. - One party was given a room key to an occupied room. When they opened the door, they saw someone who was naked. They had to go down to the front desk to request a new room. Really don't understand how an occupied room can be given to a guest that's checking in - seems like a major privacy issue. - Multiple guests told us they had to wait a while to check in despite arriving after check-in time since the hotel was overbooked. It wasn't a holiday weekend & our hotel block was booked at least 3 months in advance - not sure why they would overbook when they had more than enough advance notice about our room block. Have submitted a complaint to IHG as well & received no response. Terrible customer service overall & they clearly don't care about their guests. Wish I had seen all the previous negative reviews before committing to a room block since it was embarrassing that our guests had to deal with so may issues.

Decent hotel near the highway Comfortable hotel and room. Quiet. Well located adjacent to the highway. Comfy bed. Service poor at breakfast, menu given and then the server left. Short Uber to downtown for food and drinks. Had a couple of maintenance issues which were dealt with speedily.

Unprofessional, and poorly managed hotel!the benefit was apply 2 days in a row, and unprofessionalism continue! The customer service at the front of the hotel was unprofessional, rude, and poorly managed! So maybe they had a bad day, granted, I tried very hard to give them the benefit of the doubt. They did not take the time to make eye contact at all, or to say hello. Was I bothering them by checking in? I am on a business trip, I needed a friendly hotel to go relax, but instead they showed unprofessional behavior. The next day, I thought a new day, they did not have paper to print me a check out receipt, so I asked them to email it to me. It has been 2 weeks, and they have not managed to email me a receipt. I suggested to my company to remove this hotel chain from our database. Good luck getting business in the future!
