Tukwila, WA: Thriving Commerce Center Just South of Seattle

A busy and important commerce center at the intersection of rivers, railroads, and freeways, Tukwila is home to many a shopping center and corporation facility. It also hosts The Museum of Flight and the Rainier Symphony. And its location just 12 miles out of Downtown Seattle makes it a perfect springboard for a trip there.

If you decide to visit Downton Seattle, you may be greeted by street performances, flowers, and fresh-caught fish find a common home at Seattle’s Pike Place Market. Founded in 1907, it's where both sightseers and locals shop. Drop into the Fish Market to watch the staff tossing salmon, halibut, and cod—a famous tradition. There are plenty of nonperishable goods as well, including jewelry and other crafts. And you might want to take a picture in front of the market’s iconic sign, which now rivals the Space Needle as the city’s most recognizable symbol.

The original Starbucks coffeehouse has operated out of Pike Place since the 1970s. You can stop here for a pick-me-up before taking the half-mile walk to Seattle's Central Library. The front desk staff was helpful. The hotel rooms are decent and clean. There was dirt on the bathroom wall which the cleaners missed, but other than that we enjoyed our short stay. Most pools in the other hotels are closed due to covid, but this remained open, and my kids enjoyed that, too.

Not bad, not great The bed was comfortable, the restaurant downstairs was excellent, and the bathroom was good. Overall the amenities are pretty good. However, the location of the noisy ventilation unit blowing air right next to the bed is poor design and should be somehow rectified - it made sleeping here difficult. The gym was average, just enough to get a simple workout in, probably could do with an upgrade. Location is OK. Still took some time to get to the airport. Price was OK. Everything just generally OK.

Comfortable Night with Easy Airport Access easy access to airport while very quiet, friendly service, fresh seafood, comfy beds- It was a great stay. The access to amenities was good. The ease of finding and ordering what we wanted food and drink wise was great. We felt welcome with our 7 year old. We had zero worries about our vehicle in the parking lot.

Hotel stay/ breakfast and cleanliness The bathroom floor behind the vanity you could tell was not sweeped. Along the baseboard of the bathroom, there was wrappers from candy that were left. The floor was scratched up on one side of the dresser and the side tables, one side was not wiped down at all. You could tell there were smears from idont know what it looked liked and I rather not know. We had high expectations of this hotel and it was disappointing to see that the house cleaning services were not performed up to par. In the morning for breakfast it took a while to be seated due to limited seating, we waited standing in the lobby for a good 20 minutes, with a toddler that was frustrating. Then upon getting seated we got drinks right away then went to get food. As for refills for our drinks it was frustrating because we didn’t see anyone for a while available get us more drinks. When we finally saw someone we still waited a good 10 minutes before getting our refills of orange juice and water. For the price we paid for 1 night it was disappointing that our visit wasn’t as expected. We pass this hotel all the time and would have assumed it would have met the basics. Unfortunately, it did not and I’ll be reconsidering staying somewhere else next time.
