Hotel at a Glance: Hotel Metro Milwaukee

Located in the heart of Downtown Milwaukee, Hotel Metro got its start over 80 years ago, housing shops and offices in the heart of a thriving retail area. The building was originally designed in the popular art deco–style of that time, complete with high ceilings. Its current owners took over the building in 1996. And though they decided to keep the structure of the building, they hired design expert Madame Liane Kuony to contrast the aggressive architecture with a softer Art Moderne feel for the interior. All aspects of the hotel, from the light fixtures and furniture to the design of the carpet were handpicked by Madame Kuony to evoke a certain atmosphere and feeling.

  • Spacious guest rooms, ranging from 550 to 720 square feet, are decked out with large bathrooms
  • Take in the city view from the rooftop terrace, which features a fireplace and outdoor seating as well as a tranquil garden.
  • Forget the cab: Explore the city by foot or via complimentary old-fashioned bicycles (available seasonally).

Milwaukee, Wisconsin: Breweries Along Lake Michigan

Located along Lake Michigan, about 90 miles north of Chicago, Milwaukee is a proudly unpretentious city with working-class roots. The city has been synonymous with brewing since the mid-1800s, when Miller, Pabst, and Schlitz dominated the landscape. Visit the Flemish-style Pabst Mansion, beer baron Frederick Pabst’s 1890 estate, to see just how profitable the beer business was. Today there’s a new microbrew-inspired scene, with smaller brewers such as Lakefront Brewery opening their doors to the public.

There are also noticeable cultural undercurrents in Milwaukee. Set along the downtown lakefront, the Milwaukee Art Museum is beloved for its futuristic, sailboat-like architecture by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. Inside, you can browse 30,000 works of art, ranging from 15th-century antiques to Georgia O’Keeffe paintings. Just south of the museum, the Milwaukee RiverWalk runs alongside the river for 3 miles, taking you through the Historic Third Ward, where antique shops and art galleries fill century-old warehouses. Drop by the Milwaukee Public Market here to sample local cheeses, baked goods, and other culinary delights.

Less than amazing. We were upgraded to one of the presidential suits. Nice room but not amazing. Would have been $700 ish a night I think but we used points and got the free upgrade as I am Titanium Elite with their program. Not worth $400-700 it normally runs in our opinion. Stay next door at the Pfister. Pillows sucked, fabric did not breathe, so you feel hot laying on them and they are not fluffy once you lay on them. Felt hard and flat. Not enough support. We had room service the 2nd night and we both were sick after. (Burger) My wife threw it up 2 hours later and I had stomach issues the next morning. When I mentioned it to the front desk they apologized but that was it No water in room on check in and we only found out about free water the 2nd day after we bought water at subway across the street For a 4 star hotel these things matter. Good location friendly staff but we travel a lot and recently relocated from Dubai. We expected more from the Autograph collection hotel.

Nice, Relaxing Hotel in Downtown Milwaukee This was a perfect location for us while on our tour of MLB stadiums. Riverwalk close by as well as the Farmers Market and Lake Michigan. Perfect stay for us. We were in Milwaukee when the night the Bucks won the championship. Front desk personnel were very friendly and helpful. Hotel was very clean and our room was great.

Excellent stay; large room; good location Was very happy with recent stay at Metro Autograph. Was in town for NBA Finals Game 6 (Go Bucks). Even though hotel was sold out, very friendly staff. Room very large and clean. Good breakfast. Convenient location.
