Savannah, Georgia: Historical Mansions and a Lively River Walk

Founded in 1733 as Georgia's first town, Savannah is not only one of the most graceful cities in the South but also one of the most historic. The old but well-preserved architecture landed it on Forbes’s 2011 list of America's Best Downtowns, and Travel + Leisure dubbed it one of the top cities in the United States and Canada in 2013. The city's 22 famous public squares play host to some famous landmarks, such as antebellum-era houses framed by moss-covered oak trees. Head to Oglethorpe Square to see the Owens-Thomas House, an English Regency–style mansion completed in 1819 that now serves as a museum; tours here depart from the original carriage house and go past its charming English-style parterre garden.

Another relic of Savannah's past, River Street curves for about a mile along Savannah River's south bank. The cobblestone walkways are lined with 100-year-old cotton warehouses that have been converted into antique shops, brewpubs, and galleries. A short walk west of River Street will take you to the City Market, a four-block public meeting space on the edge of downtown.

Perfect Vacations helped by an amazing Hotel. Let me start by saying I have taken my family here once to twice a year for the past 6 years and every single time I am impressed with the level of service we have gotten. While we do see some new faces amongst the staff over the years the quality has never decreased. The rooms are always immaculate and cleaner than any hotel I have been in over the past decade. My family and I will continue to come here year after year until they prove the standards have slipped. Please never change your methods and keep being an amazing hotel to stay at for our vacations!

Visit Tybee The Hotel Staff was very professional, knowledgeable and friendly. The Checkin process as well as the Checkout process was very efficient. The view of the ocean was amazing! The accommodations had been recently renovated and was very clean. The hotel is in close proximity to local restaurants & shops. Very enjoyable stay. Will visit again soon & highly recommend the location.

Absolutely not worth it. Check-in was nice and fast, but we quickly noticed problems. Only one of two elevators was working. When we arrived at our floor, there was a dropped unopened can of Busch Lite on the floor outside the elevator. When we got into our room we discovered the interior deadbolt did not work. If I were a woman traveling alone, I would've immediately "noped" it outta there. But it was late, we were tired, and my husband was with us so we stayed. Soon we discovered more issues. The room was dirty. There was a pile of trash in the corner behind the armchair. The door to the balcony would not open. Worst was the shower. The water pressure was so low, you had to wait one full minute for the water to reach the shower head. And when you showered, you couldn't rinse all the soap off your body because the low water pressure. This wasn't even the worst part of the shower.... the tub was covered in sand -- a lot of sand -- like someone had come off the beach and showered in the tub and no one cleaned up afterward. The next morning we reported the issues and were offered our choice of rooms to relocate. We picked the best of the two mediocre options. Still in the "new" room, while the deadbolt worked, the shower pressure was good, and the balcony door opened, the room was filthy. We found trash under the radiator, dirt piled up behind the armchair, and hair and sand in the tub (although less sand than the first room). Also the desk chair was ripping. The only good things I can say about this hotel is the location, the ample parking, and the courteous staff. Oh, and that can of Busch Lite outside the elevator? Someone picked it up the next day. But no one bothered to mop up the dried beer all over the floor that had previously been spilled from other cans of beer.

Great Location. Pet-Friendly. I booked through govx and got a great rate with the military discount. Fantastic location! 2 pools and a poolside bar. The room was decent however the room directly across from us was being renovated and was noisy. It is now pet-friendly. Loved that. Didn’t love that you pay extra to park in the hotels lot even though you’re a registered guest.

Friendly staff, dirty rooms To begin with a positive, staff was friendly and welcoming. But our room was absolutely disgusting. There was build up dirt and urine around the base of the toilet with unknown splatters of substance on the wall in the bathroom along with visible dirt and dust. Our floors had not been mopped as visible dirt was also noted. We stayed in a room that was opposite the elevator and the cranking and grinding noise that came from the wall each time the elevator moved kept us up for hours at night and woke us very early in the morning. We won’t be back.
