Albany, New York: State Capital with Rich History

Chartered in 1686, Albany is one of the oldest cities in the United States. Because of its age, there are historic sites and districts everywhere, and the city is full of museums and cultural centers. Check out the New York State Museum, the New York State Library, and the New York State Archives, all of which are clustered together in the Empire State Plaza and completely free to visit. Also worth a look is the USS Slater, a decommissioned World War II destroyer escort that’s been made into a floating museum.

Though it’s the capital of New York State, Albany is relatively small, with a population of about 100,000. The downtown area is quaintly compact, with parks, art galleries, and restaurants at every turn. In warmer months, don’t miss a chance to take a cruise on the Hudson River or visit the green expanse of Lincoln Park. For a quick day trip, head to nearby Howe Caverns, a year-round underground cave with lantern tours and a ropes course—it’s the second most visited attraction in New York after Niagara Falls.

The hotel was very nice and the location was great, but we were charged agin when we arrived as the hotel had not received the payment voucher from Groupon. We are still trying to get the charges reversed. Not sure who is really at fault here? Groupon, or the hotel.

The hotel was very nice and location was great, we are still having an issue with the charge. When we got there, they said they didn’t see that we had paid through Groupon and needed to charge my CC until they could get it worked out. Still trying to get management to work it out. Whether it is the fault of the hotel or Groupon, I’m not sure, but very inconvenient having double charges on my card!

New Hotel Service Below Par Stayed here several nights and was disappointed. Here is why: 1. Hardly any water comes out of shower heads so takes forever to shower. 2. After first night came back to room and all towels, wash clothes were gone there were none. 3. Parking is quarter mile away and the walk at night over an unleveled road is risky. 4. The desk people one does not speak clearly the other one is totally apathetic does not care at all. To me this is not being run for business guests the way it should be. None of our traveling staff will return. the Doctor Hit me with some BIG LOVE ❤️_ and a helpful VOTE! Written by the Doc! “Good health is the real wealth, focus on that as a priority matter”

Nice Hotel terrible parking The hotel rooms were neat and clean. I was extremely pleased with the room. What I found uninviting was the construction that was taking place at the front of the hotel. You had to drive to the back of the hotel in order to get to the hotel lobby. Very problematic for me. Then the fact that the hotel did not have any parking. I had drive behind the hotel to a parking lot located under the interstate then pay for the parking, then walk from the public parking (in a secluded desolate area) to the hotel to get back to the back of the hotel entrance to take the elevator to the lobby. I just happen to be with a work colleague, so I didn't have to walk to the hotel alone. It was such a disappointment regarding the parking situation and the hotel will be my last choice regarding hotels in the Albany area.
