Boulder, Colorado: Artsy College Town in the Foothills of the Rockies

Boulder sits at the base of the Flatirons, craggy sandstone mountains that give way to the majestic Rockies. They’re interspersed by lakes, reservoirs, and pine forests, creating a rugged landscape that’s ideal for outdoor adventure. Rent a mountain bike or strap on a hiking backpack to explore the exhilarating Royal Arch Trail, which winds through 3.2 miles of red-rock outcroppings and huge boulders. You’ll be rewarded at the end with a landmark rock arch and distant views of Denver’s skyline. In winter, you can head to Eldora Mountain Resort for downhill and cross-country skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing.

Boulder’s sprawling wilderness complements the city’s eco-conscious attitude—think farm-to-table food. The restaurants and brewpubs draw in a lot of traffic from the University of Colorado, which has its main campus in town. You’re sure to find live music and open mics nearly every night of the week; visit on a weekend in autumn, and you might be able to catch a Colorado Buffaloes football game at Folsom Field. A brisk walk from the stadium brings you to pedestrian-friendly Pearl Street Mall, where you can browse art galleries and quirky boutiques (85% of the shops here are locally owned and operated).

Beware of the hotel parking The nicest thing about this hotel is its central location. We had a decently clean room and a reasonable breakfast. Depending on when you arrive at breakfast, some food items are depleted and it's slim pickings towards the end. The biggest issue I ran into was with parking, where I paid $50 for 2 nights, only to be charged with a parking violation after my hotel visit. Clearly something went wrong in the scanning of my license plate. When I called the hotel they promised to take care of the parking violation. But they did no such thing! If this is the default parking option for hotel guests, then clearly a better system needs to be in place. Nobody from the hotel made any effort to follow up with me, which leaves me feeling overall disappointed with the customer service.

Great experience Well maintained property, courteous staff, plenty of options for breakfast. We had a two day meeting there. This was our fourth meeting in Boulder and by a long shot this hotel was the best. The only negative is that lightning disabled one of the two elevators the day before we got there but this was hardly the hotel's fault. Honestly, it was hardly noticeable. This hotel has my vote for any future meetings.

I was a MESS! I was a mess! I had just gotten to Boulder for a Mom's Weekend at the University. I walked into the Hyatt without a reservation after leaving my 3-night reservation at the Residence Inn Boulder, due to a room issue. The Hyatt was pretty booked up, however, after overhearing of my desperate need for a shower and nap due to a long night and traveling, Kayla chimed in to help. Kayla and Madison offered me a room immediately. Not only did they book me a room for 3 nights, but they also allowed me to use the online price. These 2 ladies deserve to be acknowledged for making my Mom's trip to visit my college freshman daughter memorable.

Great place to stay in Boulder! The location is perfect—it's very convenient to everything in Boulder!! The rooms are very comfortable, and the staff went out of their way to accommodate any requests we had. They have a bar in the lobby, which is great for a late-night drink. We will stay here again!

Only a maybe You need to park in the front to check in. They had coffee and cookies out and gave me a goodie bag as a globalist. The parking garage is about a block way in the back of the hotel. At first I was concerned with the seemingly complicated instructions to go through a courtyard and enter different doors but they have great signage that makes it very clear how to walk back to the hotel. The hotel seems a little tired. The shower tile wasn’t great but I’ve seen this on the older locations. But the remote was crusty. So I’d like to think it’s not a cleanliness issue but… Since I was traveling on my own I appreciated the key requirement for the elevator and a room at the end of the hall. Breakfast was on brand. There were three people working the breakfast area which ensured it was always clean and stocked. I’m going to stay at other locations in the Boulder/Denver area before I return.
