Bethesda, Maryland: Affluent Enclave Neighboring DC

Bethesda has some of the cosmopolitan flavor of DC, but feels decidedly quieter. There are a dozen or so art galleries in the downtown area and more than 200 restaurants representing cuisines from around the world. One of the many historic highlights worth a visit is the Round House Theatre, a restored 1930s art-deco movie theater. Today it showcases a variety of live entertainment acts ranging from children’s shows to off-Broadway plays and musicals.

Worst Experience, Poor Customer Service Bait and switch tactic at this hotel. Booked online and upon arrival, charged several hundred dollars more than advertised. Rationale given by front desk was a $500 security deposit which is refunded after the stay. Never heard of such a thing. When we checked in, there was a baby crib in our room, which we had to move to the hallway ourselves. We booked a room for 2 adults, 2 children but only two towels were provided. We didn't notice this until after we returned from dinner and began taking showers. Took them almost an hour to deliver rest of our towels so that my family could shower. I had to call 3 times. All 3 times, I talked to a night manager on duty who never once apologized, tried to tell me that "its standard to only leave two towels in the room." I told her "No. You don't leave only two towels when the booking is clearly for four people." She had a snotty attitude and didn't want to deal with the situation. I asked for her boss's name. She refused to provide it. It's ridiculous to hear people call themselves "manager" yet are incapable of actually managing simple situations like these. A few days in to our visit, the housekeeper left a box of chocolates and a long note which asked for a good review of their cleanliness. So, it was in effect, an incentive for a positive review. I did eat the chocolates. Though I'm not going to falsify a review. I will never stay at this hotel again.

nice hotel nice hotel and the people are nice although the coffee shop was full of students that go to school down the street and it took way too long to just get a coffee, but when they are not there during their break it is a pleasant experience so I would say this hotel is nice, but more pricy than the other nearby hotels

Great place to stay! The hotel is beautiful, clean and accommodating! Staff are extremely pleasant and helpful. Having a Starbucks and Morton's Steakhouse onsite made my stay perfect after full days of meetings in DC. The room itself is very comfortable and clean.
